I was living in a shithole apartment with a noisy fridge that the landlord wouldn’t fix and complaining to my therapist about it. He suggested I fix it, which was a completely alien idea to me at the time. It was a lot less complicated than I expected, I learned a lot about how it worked, and my self-confidence and perceived control over my circumstances skyrocketed.
I think they’re clarifying that the removal of the DEI program erased you, not the DEI program itself. It’s a small nit to pick, but then you confirmed it, so I think they just got confused. Words are hard sometimes
Well shit, I never thought I’d value the German bureaucracy. I’m an immigrant who teaches German classes in Germany and they waived my language requirement. I was honestly surprised, I figured I would just pay the stupid money and have the most relaxed oral exam in my life, but they were somehow organized enough to recognize my master’s degree in German.
I married a German though, and getting the marriage license took about five months, and it was only valid for six weeks.
It’s almost certainly the neighbors thing. The specific complaints are mostly that Rhode Islanders have a very distinctive accent (it’s no longer super widespread, but think Lois from family guy) and when your friends/relatives move there, they stop thinking of an hourlong drive (to visit you) as a day trip, but that might just be a trend in my circle.
That, and their clam chowder isn’t real chowder and wtf is coffee milk (yep, those are definitely just neighborly things to pick at). I always liked honey dew better than dunkin though.
Sure, but trends seem to hit harder here, probably because we’re smaller. There have been weeks where it seemed like 60% of the non text posts in my feed were about jeans or beans or vegan cat food. Those probably weren’t more than 0.1% of posts, but they sure felt overwhelming at the time.
That’s the dumbest song I’ve ever heard. Straight up, it sounds like something that someone would write about their “ex” in middle school. I hope I can compartmentalize about this, because Vincent is a lovely song, but I feel such vicarious joy for this woman at getting out that it might be worth it to ruin a song.
It’s been a couple days, but I think we’re actually hitting one of these points now. In a hundred years, someone might ask why there weren’t any female astronauts or why women didn’t take part in NASA. I just hope we have enough backups for the information that they were involved and vital to the program to get out there.
You don’t start hating your SO when you get married. You start hating your SO when you take them for granted and/or if you’re poorly matched. Being married is fucking awesome.
But yes, my husband and I both have pictures of each other sleeping on our phones.
I don’t necessarily select music solely for the vocals, but I typically find women’s voices much more beautiful. Andrea bocelli, don mclean, and hozier are notable exceptions, but Amy Winehouse, Adele, or even Beyoncé tend to hit me harder.
I’m very glad for my eyebrows and eyelashes, and there’s that Sikh woman (relevant because of the religious ban on cutting hair) whose wedding picture went viral like a decade ago. She had a pretty full beard and had styled it beautifully with small flowers woven into it.
How?
