  • It’s more because it comes from slave (arbeiten is also related), and both slaves and orphans deal with status changes, but that’s a lot more similarities than I had :)

  • The female orgasm is pretty easy for me to achieve alone. I can generally come within 5 minutes if I really want to.

Coming during sex is totally different, but that’s because of the other factors involved, not because female orgasms are inherently rare or difficult for everyone.

  • I’ve worked for some garbo places, but all of them shut the ice machine down immediately for super thorough and annoying cleaning. Ice and glass are too hard to tell apart and the dangers of ice in a drink are too high for even the greediest managers I’ve had to want to chance it.

Someone out there might risk it, but it’s a pretty obvious thing to avoid

  • If it helps, I worked in restaurants for eight years and at least every other year, someone would forget how thermal shock works and put a hot glass directly into the ice maker, so we’d clean it thoroughly then.

So you know, not oversight or intention, but stupidity leads to sporadic cleaning.

I don’t take ice in restaurants either

  • I literally read a comment today on lemmy with this (paraphrased) line: “I was simply sharing my knowledge to facilitate a discussion, but if you’d like me to see your point of view… lol no. I am not interested”

I was kind of boggled, honestly, but it’s not just reddit at least

  • I think it depends. You can be a really polite Baptist preacher being very earnest in !196 about how you think people should behave, and that’s just not what they want. Even in a discussion thread, writing a nonspecific defense of FGM, for example, is going to be offensive enough to probably disrupt the conversation, and I can see removing it.

I’m not suggesting that’s what’s happening; just saying that I like your idea, with some tweaks

  • I’m not a furry, though I accept peoples right to be furries and think it’s a generally harmless interest that gets way more hate than it deserves. (And I’m very queer, for context)

I think furries just got nickelbacked. Is nickelback worse than, say, incubus or sum 41? Not objectively, but if I make a joke about a sum 41 community blocking someone, it’s confusing. Furries (and nickelback) are used as foils by people for “unpleasant media.”

That’s not fair to people who enjoy the medium nor is it fair to the talented and hardworking artists who create it, but it’s a cultural meme that’s going to be hard to stop.
