You're neither champ nor chump. But I would advise you to be a little less rigid because some laws SHOULD be broken. I even had a judge once tell me this. I was arrested for a misdemeanor for providing food and water to the homeless when I was living in Arizona. I was careful not to resist knowing that this fight belonged in the courtroom. At the time I could not afford a private attorney so one was assigned to me who advised me to plead guilty and accept the fine and 30 days in jail. Thankfully, the judge overseeing my arraignment simply dismissed the case out of hand. His words were
Off the record - Young man, some laws are meant to be broken. I applaud your for choosing the right one. On the record - I am dropping the charges and dismissing this case. Furthermore, I am ordering that the arrest record be sealed by the court. This young man presents absolutely no danger to public health, safety or morals. In fact, he did the very charitable thing to help those in need and this is an American value that has no business being criminalized. I do not see making employment difficult for him based on a charitable act.
I'm not a violent person but if our society becomes an analog to Talibani Afghanistan, I won't go down without a fight. Better to die fighting than die in a Christian re-education camp.
If you consider yourself to be "shit-lib" then we have nothing in common because I want to put a terminal end to both parties and breakdown and rebuild our society from the ground up. Both parties are terrible for different reasons. One impedes progress through tokenism and incrementalism and celebrating that as a victory. The other party are Christofascists. You and I are nothing alike. Note that I am purposely leaving your identity out of this because one thing I feel strongly about is LGBTQ+ rights. People identifying as LGBTQ+ would flourish in a system where one party (i.e. the Democrats) does not use you as pawns and the other party (i.e. the Republicans) does not want to relegate you to an underclass.
I dislike Biden intensely. I meant what I said when I wouldn't lift a finger to help him other than vote for him. I sure as hell am not going to work to sway others in my circle to vote for him. That's entirely up to them and the conclusions they draw. It is going against my principles as it is to vote for someone that does not represent my best interests. It's worse that he doesn't even represent my best interests, he does everything counter to them.
I understand your moral qualms because I would have them myself. Are you an actual employee of the MLM and be paid as a W2 employee? Or are you being offered equity in the company? How are you being compensated is what I am getting at. MLMs by their very nature are legal scams. Most operate out of Utah because Utah is legally friendly towards that model of operation.
Why, when I am an anarcho-communist, should I work hard to support the neoliberal candidate? I am not lifting a goddamned finger for Joseph R. Biden Jr other than unwillingly casting my vote for him if need be.
My favorite Linux distro, bar none, is Arch Linux. I like it because I know (almost) exactly what is going into it during the install. It's a lightweight distro that can be easily turned into a heavy hitter. I also like Slackware but haven't used it in decades. Once I discovered Arch, I stopped hopping.
That is a lot for any person, let alone a child, to weather and I agree with your conclusion that the child most likely would benefit from therapy to lessen the potential trauma developing later in life. The praise for you is roundly deserved because the world we live in as a dog eat dog one. The only thing I cannot emphasize enough is that if you suspect physical, mental, or emotional abuse, absolutely get child protective services involved. I am a survivor of mental, psychological, and emotional abuse. My father was never prosecuted for it when he should have been. The scars were real and lasting. Only you know the situation of this child. Go with your instinct. If you have an instinctual feeling that this child is being abused in the aforementioned ways, it's time to get child protective services involved.
I am not really noticing this at a large scale. I've seen it here and there but not enough to be worrisome. The ration of good content to poor content still remains heavily in favor of the good.
