This is a neoliberal answer, which is to say a non-answer, to a serious problem. Rent increases still outpace salary increases so it still puts the renter one or two paychecks away from homelessness. The problem will not get solved this way.
Capitalism is currently causing vastly more problems than it is solving. It is concentrating wealth and resources in the hands of the few while the poor and working class suffer.
It just occurred to me that one could purposely seed it with incorrect information to break its usefulness. I'm anti-AI so I would gladly do this. I might try it myself.
And with Trump emboldening the far right, they no longer feel the need to hide. They loudly proclaim their Intentions and mission now. They haven't been this vocal since 1964.

If I won the lottery, I would start by ending the homeless problem in my state. All it would take would be one stroke of the pen and many people's lives would be improved.
Illegal? Probably not. Asshole move? Most definitely. I think the reason that they're cracking down on this is to avoid potential overtime payments but it doesn't make it right or fair. You don't owe an explanation to anyone if you've been responsible enough to cover your shift. That much said, the only way to be sure is if you file a complaint with Colorado's Department of Labor and have one of their attorneys or Labor Law Enforcement Officers go over your claim. It could very well be considered an unacceptable breach of privacy and this restaurant could face punitive fines for behaving like this but I am neither a lawyer nor a resident of Colorado.
It's possible to bring your followers with you by doing an account redirect. On your old server and/or account, go to Preferences->Profile and then scroll down until you see move to a new account and click on the link. Then on your new server and/or account go to Preferences->Profile and scroll down until you see move from a different account and click on that link. Your follower will be alerted as to your new account. Right now you aren't able to bring your posts over with you. Unfortunately it is not possible to even export your posts yet with Mastodon. A part of me is regretting not going with Akkoma or Calckey when I decided to redo my Mastodon instance because I believe those twitter-like alternatives give you the ability to export/import all of your data.
Port forwarding can be a recipe for disaster. I'd much rather make use of reverse proxying.
