  • It can’t run everything obviously but the fact that my nearly 10 year old iPad can handle video streaming still and these schools have bricked laptops after 3 years is ridiculous.

  • What year is the mini from? I run a Plex server off a 2010 Mac mini.

Apple devices are serviceable for far longer after the OS stops updating than windows/android devices in my experience. But regardless, Apple doesn’t discontinue support as early as 3 or 4 years. Even you have to admit that is ridiculous of google.

  • I have an 8 year old iPad that can still use Amazon video and can still run Netflix, and google drops support for these computers as early as 3 years. I’m not an Apple fanboy but that is absolutely ridiculous.

  • Can’t find the source. Just some feminists asking for all men to die.

    Of course you can't.

  • They're going to find 1 fringe example and pretend that somehow rises to the level of the GOP's state-level policies.

  • I get what you're saying, but your more generous interpretation is the same kind of interpretation that allowed watern-----s to exist under incredibly thin cover so they could use racial slurs without scrutiny. Were they an explicitly racist sub? No. Were most people on it racist? Probably not. But did it provide an incredibly easy haven for racists to dogwhistle around? Yes.

  • Last week they made some big announcement about how the totally rampant transphobia must stop!

Here is a conversation happening right now on my end. Note this started before your comment, I did not seek this out. I see this daily. https://sh.itjust.works/comment/1447324

edit: I'd also like to add I didn't even know what blahaj was until yesterday or so.

  • Trans right activists have pushed far too strong and too far. Probably as well in a reactionary sense to an extremist right position.

What does this even mean? Why is there a speed limit on giving people equal rights? What did trans people do to make republicans kick them out of bathrooms and legislate away pronouns?

I'm not going to bother continuing to respond to your other points. You're clearly a bigot/transphobic. You think they deserve this.

  • Is it rly a surprise that people lean further left and further right, into the extreme political right and the extreme political left?

All I know is I have been called a "leftist" for not wanting to compromise with people who think trans people shouldn't be allowed to live. At best they want them to live a segregated existence. If that's "extreme" and "polarized" of me then something is really, really broken.

  • It's not like he was a middle class guy with a dream and a giga brain. He had a lot of money to spend.

Let me be crystal clear here that I have never, ever thought that.

  • Without the investment and PR explosion he gave them it is incredibly unlikely they could've made it this far. The legislative hurdles and competitive pressure Musk just shrugged off for years should not be discounted. He had his entire fortune to fall back on if the gamble didn't pay off, so the threats to his bottomline and prolonged battles did not impact him the same way it would a startup.

Again, I can't stand the dude. But Tesla made it because of him, warts and all.

  • Yeah, as critical as I am of Musk, I have to admit that Tesla and the electric car revolution it has spurred is definitely in large part the result of his efforts and investment. As much as I can’t stand the dude, I have to give credit where credit is due.

  • The first public crack in the armor really came in 2019 when he inserted himself in the Thailand cave rescue effort in the worst way.

Let's not gloss over the fact that he started calling people "pedos" for not liking his rescue idea.

  • He also steered hard into his more right-wing/MAGA fanbase, which never ends well.

  • Twitter has lost over 10% of its users and engagement/monthly active users is down, Musk even admits they’ve lost users. Traffic is also going down with the API change/requirement to be on Twitter proper, as well as limiting the number of tweets one can see.

Considering how much a Twitter is bots, that means the number of actual people who left is actually much higher. So yeah, something did change lol just because you haven’t noticed it doesn’t mean it isn’t happening.

Edit: I’m not sure why you are talking about left and right users tbh. Seems like you’re kind of shoehorning a “both sides“ comment since no one is talking politics here.

  • Luckily the group doing the message about third-party apps is very coordinated so they have so far been able to protect it for a few days now
