big fan. used it on a pi zero w that I had hosting my PiHole for years. when the hardware finally died, I just installed dietpi on a VM in my proxmox server and used it for pihole again.
sure, I could've used another distro but it only seemed fitting for this use case.
question indirectly related to the post's content:
what is the art style for the type of character in their hero image called? i've seen this a lot on techbiz websites that seem to try to appear friendly.
I think nostalgia does a lot for those of us who were there. I don't like some of the modern indies that build on the old games but I will admit they have some serious quality of life improvements.
Fast forwards, save states, extra details you'd normally find in a manual are in-game. Also, the controls are great. When I revisit some old games, I forget that we were really figuring out the best ways to use a controller and it was often very awkward.
The happy middle ground for me are when there are excellent ports of older titles like what M2 has done for a lot of games. Elevating the retro titles to modern platforms and adding enjoyable ergonomics.
I use Markor Notes on my android device with syncthing to send it all to my PC. It's a terrific markdown (and general text) editor that doesn't have much of an opinion about how you organize your files.
kagi's map feature seems to have a bit more detail than the usual osm wrappers but it is a paid service and i still haven't figured out how to get directions to work (that last part is on me, though).
I went the pixel and graphene route and I'm pretty happy with it. if Google locking out drivers means there won't be graphene for the next line of pixels, I'll probably just see what phones calyx or lineage support and roll with something from there.
I've been fortunate to not have any issues with banking services. the only big thing I lack is maps. there's not a one to one replacement for Google maps, so I just use a dedicated GPS in my vehicle. (before folks start typing at me, yes I'm aware of organic maps and etc but they absolutely lack a lot of data, especially in my semi-rural area)
they're not top of the charts but i enjoy gradius v, auto modellista, xiii, and dynasty warriors 4.
more popular games might be shadow of the colossus, tony hawk pro skater 3, metal gear solid 2, gta, etc. i'm not real into those except the first one but they got good ratings.
is that because asymmetry is the norm due to these ISPs' practices or because people just don't upload things often as a common behavior?
i recall a lot of my peers hosting mail and web servers among other things when broadband started to become more common, before they started blocking common ports as "security" and "antivirus" measures designed to extract more money from you.
I've tried pretty hard to make the switch to grayjay but there's always some snag for me. Sometimes grayjay related, other times service related. I hope the project continues to grow. for the moment I'll be sticking with newpipe and freetube.
the other futo projects are pretty neat, too. the android keyboard works really well.
