  • If they behaved like shit it's still wrong but somehow justifiable if the person thinks it'd help them better themselves.

Slapping for something they just are just antagonizes them while showing the rest of the class that that's okay to do to Muslims

  • I'd guess that that's something the server has to do since sync can only show the posts in the order the server delivers them (that's why if you hide a lot of posts you sometimes have to "open" the 2nd or 3rd site of the FrontPage)

If you have a post in a community with a weight over 20 then that post will only be sorted into your FrontPage after you loaded the site that post was on originally

Same as a post with a weight of 0.1 - it will always be on the bottom of your currently loaded page whatever that page ist

  • I think a middle ground for the profile setting would be nice

Why is it even hiding posts from myself? Why is it impossible to even search for posts that that feature has hidden?

That's why I disabled the setting and are currently exclusively using sync to browse

  • How much money do you spend on journalism each month OP?

The right exists because people want everything for free (meaning with ads) so producing the stuff that generates the most clicks is what people get.

If you want investigative journalism you have to show that by paying for that

  • The problem is that too many people seem to want the clickbait stuff so it's not really worth it for other than ethical reasons since the amount of people paying for journalism is too small these days

  • That's not how conservatives work sadly.

Merkel ruled Germany for 16 years but 1 year after her party was out of power they started campaigns about how broken the bureaucracy is and how bad the electricity-grid is without the atomic power which they decided to quit or complain about the government making changes to what heating is allowed in houses in order to be on track with the climate targets (which is a very steep climb since they didn't do anything)

And people eat it up and vote for them again or go even more extreme because that kind of thing makes people lose faith in the process all together.

  • Because meat isn't taxes properly so that having a decent meat based diet is cheaper than having a decent plant based one

Sure there are a lot of cheap vegan meals, too, but some of them are harder and/or take longer to prepare than cheap meat-based food

I'd guess the dairy/meat lobby would complain a lot of they didn't have people forced to eat their stuff in prison

Id guess it's a very nice baseline of product-sales

  • Yeah cooling them with river water won't work in the summer pretty soon and since it takes almost 10 years to build it really isn't a reasonable choice if you see how many renewables you can rollout in that time with that money

  • It's more that finally it starts to show how stupid firing most of the staff was

Most people in tech anticipated it to run fine for a while but then eventually stuff like this will show up more often because you don't have people that actually understand the code anymore and which kind of side-effects to think about with changes

  • Or the amount of rainforest that was burned down to produce soy to feed to those.

It's just irresponsible to accept meat as a default food option.

Even if you don't go vegan completely no-one should have it more than once a week. Slowly cutting back now makes it way less expensive and also easier once the regulations happen - and it also shows the politicians that they have people behind them for regulations like that, too
