  • PSL is ML, so yeah, unfortunately.

Edit: let's talk for a minute about some really important history here. Leninists have ridden anarchists to victory then turned around and murdered them, starting with Lenin himself. Makhnovists saved the Red Army from being destroyed by the white. The Soviet Revolution was originally an anarchist one until it was betrayed by the Bolsheviks, who murdered anarchists from the beginning.

Even Trotskyists need to be held accountable for this, since Trotsky himself was responsible for crushing dissent at Kronostat.

Aaron Bushnell was an anarchist. He was an anarchist service member. MLs honoring his sacrifice need to face the fact that their ideological ancestors did murder people like him for their own resistence.

MLs try to take over anarchist actions even today. PSL has tried to co-opt actions that my anarchist comrades have organized. They are overwhelmingly ineffective, which is why the feed so much on anarchist energy and appropriate anarchist actions all the time. Tankies use anarchists to get attention for themselves and dispose of us when we become inconvenient.

And if you can't honestly acknowledge the dissonance between the history of appropriation and oppression of people who you openly acknowledge are on the same side as you, then you don't really want a more free and equitable world, you just want your cult to wear the boots that are on everyone else's neck.

So yeah, fuck tankies. This is a great action. Don't let them appropriate it.

  • It's a proven strategy for the Democrats. That's how they got Trump, and that got them tons of funding and dropped the bar all the way to the floor. Why would they give up now?

  • Car tires are a major source of microplastics, making up 28% of the microplastics found in the ocean.

So yeah, cars fucking us over again. It seems to correlate to cancer and IBS, so not as much making us in to boomers more just killing us and making our lives less pleasant. Thanks again auto industry.

  • Becoming "native" isn't as simple as not having a culture. It's having a culture specific to the region. Settlers never develop this because they believe that not having ties to a region and exterminating those who do is sufficient.

Becoming native historically has generally meant adopting the language and customs that evolved in the region, or staying in a region long enough to evolve customs and culture. That takes several thousand years.

But there are also both nomadic and diasporic people. The existence of nomadic people is directly threatened by the existence of borders, making borders, in and of themselves, a tool of genocide. Diasporic people are not native but also not colonizers. Antisemitism is one example of persecution of diasporic people, while ant-black racism is another.

We have been migrating for thousands of years, which kind of invalidates the legitimacy of borders and by extension countries. If the existence of a county requires a border, by definition, and borders are genocidal, by definition, then countries are genocidal by definition. If we accept that genocide is a bad thing (perhaps the worst thing) then how could we accept the right of any nation to exist? At the very least we should demand the abolition of all nations that exist within the same space as nomadic people.

  • Read Abdullah Öcalan and Murray Bookchin are definitely worth reading here. Öcalan points out that states are fundamentally genocidal because it's easier to control one identity than several. Rajava is a really interesting example of libertarian socialism that doesn't attempt to confront the state, but basically just ignores it unless it's a threat. Rojava isn't a country, it's just an autonomous zone within the state or Syria (that isn't governed by Syria).

I think that model offers a lot. It could even offer a path beyond Israel and the US. Öcalan's Democratic Confederalism is like 100 pages and worth the read IMHO.

  • Oh hello fellow weirdos.

  • The US also doesn't have the right to exist.

  • Why is "the most incompetent fascist alive can't use Windows" a Linux meme?

  • Yeah, there are lots of people who've said this and are not also fascists. There's no reason to platform this scumbag.

  • But this is really more a product of capitalism than anything else. Under capitalism you just have to keep moving even if you're just making garbage and debt. There's no reason to stop and think, because that is seen as a cost (even though it costs more to move without thinking).

Even the best companies that do factor in planning (at least in concept if not actually in practice most of the time) end up with the other problem of "resume driven development" where things that are totally fine and actually working get replaced with things that don't work because someone needs a new project to get their promotion.

Capitalism produces garbage and puts the people who are least qualified in decision making roles. This still happens in natural systems, but much less. In (healthy) anticapitalist organizing, the people who know the most are generally asked to lead and when they don't know what to do they stop and figure it out before moving forward.

Aimless wondering can still be a problem, but it's not forced by the system to continue it's just people who are learning.

  • The political compass is literally a propaganda tool created by right wing "libertarians." It's complete bullshit.

  • The oppressor determines which things are and are not "political." The ideology and politics of the oppressor is always viewed as "neutral," while the oppressed, pointing out their oppression, are "being political."

The oppressor maintains power by controlling language and expression, by denying the oppressed even the right to talk about their own oppression as it is "impolite." In the rare cases the oppressed is allowed to talk, the oppressor demands inclusion in the conversation to "make sure both sides are heard." The two sides being that of the oppressed asking for their oppression to stop, and the oppressor justifying the continuation of said oppression while criticizing the oppressed for "not being willing to compromise" on "some oppression" or "some genocide" but the oppressed making the "unreasonable" demand of "no oppression" or "no genocide."

  • Potatoes grow well in shade. Fava beans can grow in containers just fine, but may need a balcony. I would also get a short variety. A lot of things can grow in a window sill.

There's also guerilla gardening, where you plant on an abandoned plot. Potatoes are great for this because they'll basically grow on their own as long as they aren't overtaken by blackberries.

  • It's almost as though some people are incapable of holding two thought in their head at the same time: the RNC is absolutely fascist and pro-genocide, and Biden is doing the wrong thing in this specific situation and should be criticized for it. If all criticism of a president must stop, you live in a dictatorship. This one just happens to be a two party dictatorship where one awful party is kept from criticism by the threat of the other being even worse.

  • Potatoes are also really easy to grow. If you ever forget about your potatoes and they sprout or you leave them in the sun and they get green, you can put them in a pot and grow fresh potatoes.

Fava beans are also extremely easy to grow.
