  • I'm currently reading last wish. Finished all the other books, all the game and the first two seasons of the series. One could call me a fan.

  • Which is technically correct but falls way short of addressing the problem.

As all identity politics, it looks at individual discrimination instead of the broader system which fetishizes exploitation of everyone and everything.

Capitalism has to go. Socialism is the answer.

  • Damn. Feel free to join a matrix chat if you need to waste some time not working. :)

  • I think it would make sense to help push massive numbers of these illegal streams so that massive numbers of IPs get blocked from all around the world and the system destroys itself. At least that seems to be a nice idea.

  • its kinda awesome and exactly what I expected from lemmy folks! Thank you very much.

  • Love it! I swear my fealty to you then. Have a nice day oh grand Mister Neon!

  • thats a pretty awesome explanation. Thanks. :)

  • yes, fully agree. please add this to the issue tracker! :) thank you

  • Please link a source to your title's explanation so we can address you accordingly. :D

  • Yes of course. In the broadest sense. Thanks for pointing it out though. :)

I am more interested in which aspects of the broader system resemble which systems we know of.

For example, lemmy has countless instances, some are part of the fedipact, others arent, others again are part of fediseer, joinlemmy.org, etc.

  • Pretty convincing. Thanks for answering. The city states' infrastructure is built and maintainer by a small faction who also controls the police (by default, not unchangeably so).

The larger group is kinda syndicalist in nature, no? Because members build things like the fediseer and adoption is bottom up, not top down.

  • The solution to this is changing the software to give the communities more control over the content, being able to restore the comment, maybe without the name so the persons username keeps unaffected while still keeping the content intact.

This needs to go into the lemmy software issue tracker to be considered. That is the way to change things.

  • As a reddit refugee, we have a couple more or less similar mannerisms but the system is massively different. It is intrinsically anticapitalist, not easy to censor, resistant to eee attacks, etc. It is a revolutionary platform which the antithesis of modern reddit. Reddit has started out as true and good but it has been recuperated by capitalism. Lemmy (and all alternatives, as long as decentralized) is the natural successor of reddit.

  • They're actually just submitting to the system. We live in a system that thrives off inequality. Its tendency is to destroy the weak and favor the ruthless. The more unrestrained, the faster. There are countless instances of this fact.

If you look at socialism, you will see that it has the opposite tendency. It was, and is the far superior system. Its crazy how much better.

Therefore it is you who is in the wrong. If you talk about equality, fairness and other morally sound things in a system that utilizes corruption, you're doing it wrong.

Stop fighting the "opponents" that the system presents to you but fight the system instead. Instead of protesting ice raids, storm the capitol and instate a democratic socialist government.

Edit: dont believe me. Look at this video by 1dime about the capitalist matrix https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mCPN8HxBTZk&pp=ygURY2FwaXRhbGlzdCBtYXRyaXg%3D

  • Exactly. It is a huge, authoritarian, corporate platform that can absolutely ruin the fedi if it ever turns against us (think ads, bad moderation, nudging campaigns, etc).

Its not at all as black and white as threads is but it is still a huge problem.

  • Whole platforms to be honest. Since you're already out of corpo land, lets keep you out. Matrix is the best I can think of since it combines a lot of positives. I dont know other decentralized group chats except maybe IRC. You can download apps for matrix on matrix.org, apps for irc you will find on your favorite search engine or if youre a linux user, the software store. Mobile phones and tablets of course have them too.

Then you check for your topics. Mental health, specific neurological things, interests, etc. Go from there.

  • I think all oppressed people (which ultimately are all people except the ruling class) should bind together and break the system.

But yes, i think you have the moral right to call yourself whatever you wish. Do i think it is a great idea? Not sure. But I think you're entitled to it.

  • I think from a historical view - as much as I can muster - the situation will escalate until one side can gain and maintain the upper hand. I dont see any one way streets here. It wont just go back to normal if that makes sense.

  • The word you're searching for is fascism. You just described fascism perfectly.

  • I would love to hear you elaborate on how this exactly is not anarchy.
