  • I'm in favor of a two state solution or a one state solution. But my opinion isn't important. Hamas is in favor of a two state solution and so are the Israeli people.

Just point out that lack of Israel does not strictly mean death of the Israelis. Lots of people think a one state solution is best because it would prevent the second class citizenship currently present in Israel.

  • In January 2020, House Representative Jonathan Carroll introduced the bill HB 4049 which adopts a contested definition of antisemitism equating criticism of Israel with anti-Jewish discrimination. The language of the bill draws heavily on the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's Working Definition of Antisemitism in which "Delegitimizing the State of Israel by denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination and denying the State of Israel the right to exist" is labelled a form of antisemitism. The bill would make public schools and universities culpable for failing to treat discrimination as defined by the bill in the same manner that they treat discrimination motivated by race.

  • I’m pro-Palestine all day but I don’t like this line of questioning. The only reason I see to make this argument is to try to erase the very real horrors the Jewish people survived.

However debate lords are still gonna want an answer (not trying to imply you are one). If I had to respond I would say:

English is a living language. The definition of words is determined by how we use them. Think of “literally”. It meant one thing but it was so misused that the definition had to change because the common use was completely disconnected from the textbook definition.

The words “Semitic” and “anti-semitic” did not come into existence at the same time, similar to matter and Antimatter. “Anti-Semitic” is specifically “anti-Jewish” because that how the phrase was used.

It’s not a word whose definition comes from the literal sum of its parts, it refers to a specific phenomenon.

  • No it isn’t. Hamas was founded on the dissolution of Israel but they have no interest in killing Jewish people world wide. They’re not even necessarily interested in killing Jewish people in Israel. They just want the land back.

The charter does use the word “Jewish” but scholars agree it is interpreted to mean the land and not the peoples

And the second charter is in favor of a two state solution

  • Someone said the pipes are too fucked by the bombing and TBH that makes sense. But assuming they're ok, can you even get water pumps going again safely?

I've heard that pipes always leak and you need to keep constant pressure in the lines so the leak is out into the soil instead of losing pressure and letting the dirt and bacteria leak back into the water supply.

I suppose dirty water can be boiled and is better than water with heavy metals.... Anybody with any actual experience wanna speak up about this?

  • White phosphorus munitions can legally be used on battlefields to make smoke screens, generate illumination, mark targets or burn bunkers and buildings. Because it has legal uses, white phosphorus is not banned as a chemical weapon under international conventions, but it can cause serious burns and start fires.

You just can't use it to hit people (I don't think you're allowed set buildings on fire to kill people either)

And Israel is on thin ice because they used white phosphorous before in '09 (not claiming they used it illegally because I can't find a source that will say one way or the other)
