You answered your own question. As you said, most smart TVs go into a sleep mode, so they appear to turn on in a near instant. But if you ever actually power it down, most take up to a minute to boot up.
I’m pretty close to the plant. I’m new to the area and I don’t really know anyone. I didn’t get any emergency alerts and they didn’t use the sirens. Is this normal? I found out by accident on the Nextdoor app this morning. I didn’t hear any official statements until 9:30PM! It’s been going since 5AM!
I really don’t understand why the white house hasn’t publicly talked about how bad NBC is butchering coverage of the Olympics. This is supposed to be a big event that promotes unity and you can’t even watch most of it without a streaming paywall. Not to mention the terrible announcers and general coverage.
IMO the Olympics should be broadcasted by public television.
