  • Gore has always been a huge media favorite (even before he became VP), knew how to play the game and loved the attention. Same for Cheney. Some VP are more on the front, but you hadn’t heard much of Biden while he was VP, and Pence… well he was a lap dog until the constitution depended on him.

Can you even tell me who George HW Bush’s VP was? Or Carter’s? Without looking?

Harris doesn’t care about it, it’s not required for her job, and if she doesn’t do a good job we’d probably know about it more than if she did.

  • Meh. Username shouldn’t matter anyway. Make sure the password is secure (and stored securely).

I had a loaned ISP router in the early naughts that I couldn’t change the admin password, but it was the same for all their boxes and someone posted it on my bulletin board. I changed it as soon as I could, but the techs were furious. Whatever man, I’m not letting anyone take control of my LAN because you can’t figure this shit out.

  • In Canada, unless you have some weird stuff, the tax filing form is smaller than the census. They just need to confirm things that links your accounts. They already have your pay and taxes amounts from your employer, your bank tax statements from your banks, etc. So unless you’re doing something only like 1% of the population does, it’s a two pager online, 20 minutes in and out, that’s it.

  • Divorce doesn’t protect your personal bank account. That money doesn’t suddenly becomes yours. When splitting assets, personal accounts and even safety deposit boxes are included (unless a prenup arrangement).

And the “secret” part is the problem. Seems to me grandma isn't advising her to have a personal bank account like everyone; she wants her to have a bank account the husband doesn’t know about. There’s a difference.

  • Digg is still around. MySpace is still a thing. Hell, you can still download and run ICQ (though I think it’s run by a Russian company now).

There’s not a lot of real dead products on the internet. They just fade slowly behind the bushes, and I think X/Twitter is getting there.
