  • I am poor and chose the latter. Own a small cheap cottage on the edge of a tiny rural village at the arse end of Australia (Tasmania) live simply and have a like minded parter. I quit work at 35 and am now 59, don't get any goverment pensions etc have a small investment portfolio of shares i purchased back in the 1990s from working and live off the dividends.

I don't want to be rich, as to even try to do so I'd have to compromise all of my morals to get there. I'm rich enough. I quit paid work as it wasnt for me. My only regret in life was not quitting work earlier, thats time I cant get back.

  • Perhaos you don't understand how the law works, she's a republican and thus currently immune.

  • I'm an aethiset, she was christian. I moved on fairly quickly, it's just looppy shit i would have started to laugh..

I assumed she'd come to her senses, she assumed I could be indoctrinated.

  • Find a Domme into as well be with her and be happy ?

  • Vs the number of people who actually voted for the turd bag ?

  • 2 weeks. Riding my motobike across the Simpson Desert (including getting there and coming back). Stayed at a country pub in western outback Qld on day 14 and & showerd. Prior to that, had been camping out in the bush.

  • Only Lemmy and Mastodon and that's too much !

Though i have test accounts with with GotoSocial and Piefed.

  • That may be, but you are not all men ? So some have.

There have been several cases here in Australia where men have been denied access becase they are men and taken it to court.. and lost, I suspect that's sort of what the person posting is referring to. Theres a carve out in the law to allow womens only spaces.

Now, whether you agree with the ruling of the courts or not, is to some extent ilrrelevant to the discussion (the courts are notionally after all just following the law) because gender equality then isn't about what's on the tin and that's when you get push back.

  • Trump is a symptom, this isn't getting "better", the shit just gets normalized, then gets worse.

I lived there pre 9/11 for a time, never going back and that's as a cis straight white Gen X dude from Australia.

  • This happened to me a few years ago (W10) with OneDrive but I had another copy and gave up quickly trying to engage with MS.

I use Lunix Mint now anyway, that was another reason for moving from Windows at the time.

  • This is the way, I retired at 35 and am now 59. I don't have enough hours on the day to do all the stuff I want to do. I start between 7-10am though.

  • We are, it's near ubiquitous. I'd suggest as high as 80% of us. Those folks will still use anything but the store anyway.

Being generous, most people are overwhelmed with choice .... in matters of no inportant (walk down the ceral aisle) , it's just with matters of importance they are given little choice.

That said I use Android becase I can sideload, some 50+60% of the apps I use regularly are sideloaded, stand out that aren't are banking and government. To have that taken off me would be shitty.

That said, I'm bemused at people that complain of a wall garden but also enable it to occur by being part of sipping at the kool aid.

My biggest gripe though is governemnt doing it, using Windows, MS Office etc etc and communicating using closed protocols. Maube like Demark and Germany we'll also move off that toxic shit.

  • So the reason voters don't vote say Green is becase they're enthralled to Americans ?

We have it quite good in Australia, for the most part. It could be SO much worse.

We are the country that is likely to be worst impacted by climate change and the collapse of civilisation. As pointed out by Donald Horne in the 1960s, (paraphrasing) we're a nation of gormless twats who elect mostly fools. At age 60, all I have ever seen is that writ large and worsen as we ignore a litany of experts on health, drugs, the environment, climate change, agriculture, inequality and on and on.

  • They're everywhere here in Australia and still super poular. Seems to be near zero concern over the shitstains behaviour.

  • I don't know, saw a "creator" who is funding her endless cruise ship journeys using YT, and all she taks about is how she funds her cruise ship journeys using YT

  • Yes, because a lack of a pair of shorts and tshirt are the reasons why. /s

Have a home gym don't have a treadmill or stationery bicycle, to me that is weird, I can run around outside and I have a bike that i ride regularly. That said, decent gym equipment is expensive.

Im 58, I've been lifting weights since I was 17, (with some breaks) for me it's more like meditation. You can't win at it and it's not a game. My parter lifts with me, she said she likes it, so i will take her at her word.

There's any number of studies showing how good resistance training is for you, especially as you age.

Henry Rollins did the best reason why.
