  • That was a good attempt at minimizing the effects of someone of this stature making a statement like this.

It's a public statement saying to the extremely devout religious members that the high officials condone the deaths of these Nations people.

I mean it always has been okay. But now it's even more okay. Again.

Kinda like the high officials of these nations did to their military. So it's all balance right?

But it's not cause the religious extremist will attack soft targets intentionally.

  • Completely relate. It's frustrating watching someone LARP something you take pride in. Absolutely nothing wrong with disliking the guy for his actions. And hell, you can still not like him for this, with the knowledge he's not really in the wrong. This time.

    V2V Respect.

  • Tradition sure. Most people don't. But they most assuredly can and do. I speak as the person who had to give a death by power point to my company due to a soldier in our unit getting into a scuffle with a civi that saluted during reveille and as per tradition PowerPoint/education based on history and regulations was the answer for preventive measures.

The only reason I even spoke to this now is the "stolen valor" aspect you presented initially and to inform the rest of the people that feel this is awkward for just anyone to do.

The truly awkward part is the way most do the "military" salute wrong. American or otherwise. I'd say it's a tell tell sign of them not being in the military but there are plenty of soldiers that don't do it correctly either so

  • So misinformed. Civilians absolutely can and do salute. They have since the beginning of time. It is a sign of respect and acknowledgement. Whether a full fledged "military" style salute or a hand wave like the royals and civilians do or a tip of the hat like "cowboys" do. There is no implied "stolen valor" if a civilian wants to salute another civilian or a person in the military or of high position.

And of course you can choose not to salute like I assume you do.

Edit: this in no way should imply I support the people in this article. Just stating facts

  • Racism. Christian extremism. Both not exclusive to themselves. Both have felt ignored and feed on the the thoughts of being victims due to their "unpopular" beliefs. There is much more to this subject but this is the best I can simplify it.

  • You could get yourself a RF analyzer or an old Hammy (Ham radio enthusiast would likely have something you could borrow)and find out what they are using then that would allow you to figure out your options such as removing the antenna, sim card, or the module in some manner. The problem with removing modules could be they are tied into the cars electronic controller which could cause issues with the car even working.

  • You make it sound like these people have a bone in their bodies to take the fight to their government.. all a bunch of hot air. Even the ex military ain't got it in them. Not many people are willing to sacrifice their lives for their ideals.

  • Yeah. This was obviously wishful thinking. It was also my knee jerk reaction to jumping on to AI with minimal research. I figured that it would be better suited for the whisper tts/stt but it just didn't run well. Then I attempted to throw HAOS various other versions of nix and that's when I threw in the towel cause the bootloader seems to do a sig check on boot. If it's not the Nvidia image it just hangs. Oh well. I now have an old comp running good enough to experiment with the likes of llama mixtral on just a 2070 with on average 2-3 sec delay. More if I ask too big of a question.

  • Yup bought the nano thinking it would be good for a home assistant plus some AI voice processing stuff and was severely disappointed. Not only is it slow but you are basically locked into Nvidias OS unless you know how to mess with bootloader's.

  • Again freedom of religion includes freedom FROM religion. And these nut jobs. The big difference is that sane people are willing to allow these people to believe what they want but they (religious extremists) are intolerant of others thinking differently from them.
