For real, that's phrasing is so ridiculous as to be hilarious if we weren't staring down the barrel of a loaded gun.

As far as I can tell, you can only block communities in sync which is why you're having to do it one by one. Jerboa you can just block the whole NSFW instance, one and done.

Idk it was like 2 years ago. I just remember looking through fediverse guides and instances were labeled as either allowing NSFW content or not, no nuance. I didn't dig into whether the specific instances were defederated from lemmynsfw nor did I even know to look for that at the time.

There's not that much NSFW stuff that isn't porn but I come across it occasionally. Usually jokes, sometimes people will also be very cautious and mark shit that isn't really. I prefer to be largely unconstrained with what comes across my feed, just don't care for the random puss intermingled.

I didn't want other NSFW stuff blocked, just porn. When I was originally signing up it seemed like NSFW was being treated as an all or nothing for most instances. Idk if it's changed or if I just needed to look harder.

Try jerboa, you can just block the nsfw instance instead of doing it piecemeal. Total game changer. (Some of the other apps probably have this functionality but I don't know which.)

Yup, that's immediately where my mind went.

ASL is not English, though. It has its own grammar structure and words (obviously) so it is functionally a different language than written English. People who speak ASL as a first language are essentially learning a second language with written English, one that is based on spoken language they can't hear. As a result, many in the Deaf community struggle to read and write. Add to that the stress of it being an emergency and having to process the text in real-time before it disappears? I just don't see captions being the answer for this already vulnerable community, especially in life-or-death situations.

So fucking tired of these clowns.

I mean, the fact that those people would then have to live there kind of insulates the politicians from those consequences. It's not so simple to move your entire life, but to do so in order to live somewhere you don't actually want to, so you can be one small drop in the bucket toward maybe voting one of these jerks out 2 years from now? Ridiculous, quite frankly, and not something enough people would ever be willing to do (rightfully so) to turn the tides.

Lawyers will also do free consults, so it's worth it to at least call around to a couple of places and see how much it will cost. My partner had to do this once and one of the lawyers ended up giving us pro bono legal advice and making a call to the police just because he thought the whole situation was stupid. He was like, "I'll call them and figure out what their plan is and then we can figure out if you even need to hire a lawyer." (His advice after talking to the cops was that we probably didn't need to hire him, but that there were a couple of things he could do if we still wanted to.) So that was a nice and unexpected resolution that wouldn't have happened had we not tried to hire someone.

Weird take. Most people who don't like cats simply didn't grow up around them and don't know how to interact. It's not because they're obsessed with control. I mean, fine if you choose not to like non-cat people, but the control theory is just weird.

For me, I wasn't really exposed to many cats growing up and the small handful I did meet were mostly aloof and didn't want to interact with strangers. One cat literally just walked up to me and bit my hand out of nowhere. (I wasn't even trying to interact with him, he was just known for being mean.) I also didn't have dogs growing up, but interacting with them felt a lot more intuitive so I wasn't as intimidated. I have since met some really sweet cats and I even have 2 kitties of my own now, but there's definitely a learning curve.

Yup, I had the same thought. I met my partner of 5 years on okcupid, but it also took me years of messages/dates/flings before we found each other. Dating and finding a good match is complicated and so much of it is purely a numbers game. Online dating apps are just a vehicle to expose you to more/different people. They aren't some binary that either does or does not work.

A lot of these people are so old they aren't even boomers... Lol. The oldest boomers are still in their late 70s.

This is such a problem for me. Hot damn do I envy people who don't let the fear of seeming stupid keep them from just asking the damn question.

The judge did not actually order a new auction, just left the next steps up to the trustee who oversaw the first auction. The article specifically points this out so I'm not sure if this means there wr other ways it could play out besides redoing the auction.
