  • If I remember correctly from my German class in highschool, the rule of thumb was if it's an inanimate object use the feminine Die. That was in the mid 90s and I haven't spoken German since, so that with a grain of salt.

  • Okay, related note, I'm going to be hanging out with my 13 year old nephew this weekend. He has never seen any Star Trek. What episode for any series would you suggest to start him out on?

Trying to think of something that will grab his attention and pull him in. All my favorite episodes are ones like Measure of a Man, but I think something with some action would get his attention better.

  • My favorite part is watching the people try to go have their picture standing on the X, not realizing that the second that light turns green, there are going to be 3 lanes of traffic barreling right towards them.

  • I was born in Philly but moved to Texas in the 3rd grade. With the exception of a few things, like how I say orange, my Philly accent is gone. However, I would still use "you guys" instead of "y'all" online. Even though I would say y'all IRL. Recently, I started using "you all" because I got told "you guys" was not inclusive.

  • When used as a noun a fart refers to "an expulsion of intestinal gas1" or "An emission of wind from the anus; an instance of breaking wind2". So, I would say no it is not because it is defined as leaving the body. While in the body it is flatus which is gas in or from the stomach or intestines.

  • The Beatles - Now and Then

It just came out Friday and the fact that it is being called the last Beatles song just hits me a lot harder than being called the new Beatles song. The Beatles have always been a part of my life.

My mom raised me on the Beatles. One of my proudest moments as a son was taking her to see Paul McCartney in concert.

I proposed to my wife by hiding her engagement ring in the Hard Days Night DVD case. We had watched it on our first date. Our wedding song was In My Life.

We used to play Beatles songs as lullabies for both of our kids. When my son, who is autistic, was a toddler, playing Hey Jude would instantly calm him down.

So even though I wasn't ever expecting anything from them again, the fact this song from the band who is my favorite, my mom's favorite, my wife's favorite, and my kids favorite has been dubbed "the last Beatles song", hit me harder than I imagined it could.
