Seriously, I think the vast majority of Trump voters could not tell you one thing about the bill. Maybe the no taxes on tips thing. It does not matter to them. Not thinking is a perk of MAGA.

Absolutely. Not because I think it would necessarily be better off, but because I don't want us to contribute to the empire and the loss of our economy would devastate the US.

I've used Windows my whole life at home. Last year I realized I kind of hate gaming at a desk since I'm at one all day for work, so I bought a used Steam Deck. Literally have not touched Windows since. I probably don't need a home computer anymore and if I need one in the future, I'm confident it won't be running Windows.

Maybe I should start getting to know my fellow vegan coworkers better.

I know way more people who would at least attempt to save my life in an emergency than I think are genuinely good people. But I do actually think that's part of identifying a decent person. Empathizing with someone suffering in front of you and wanting to help is such a low standard for empathy that even untrained animals sometimes pass this bar. Empathizing with living things more broadly and outside of your personal bubble is a task that's apparently too much to ask of most people I've met. Good way to gauge this is to get someone talking for a bit about the unhoused population of their hometown.

I recently had to digitize dozens of photos from family scrapbooks, many of which had annoying novelty pattern borders cut out of the edges. Sure, I could have just cropped the photos more to hide the stupid zigzagged missing portions. But I had the beta version of Photoshop installed with the generative fill function, so I tried it. Half the time it was garbage, but the other half it filled in a bit of grass or sky convincingly enough that you couldn't tell the photo was damaged. +1 acceptable use case for generative AI, I guess.

I've also found that the vegans I know in my personal life are mostly nonjudgmental. Militant veganism feels like a stereotype or an anomaly of online spaces. Get to know some vegans at work/school/mural aid groups/activist orgs and you'll probably find some friends who don't need you to be 100% vegan all the time. Personally, I allow myself to slip into a vegetarian diet on my birthday, my partner's birthday, and our anniversary. I've never received criticism for this, but I'd understand if other vegans had a problem with it.

Not being useful to your question at all, but if you find or start a community, I'll join. I've been various stages of vegetarian and vegan over the last 6 years. Never felt like I needed to talk about my specific, contextual exceptions, but I'm guessing it wouldn't be well accepted among hardline vegans.

Agreed, especially in Lemmy where accounts are bound to instances that you may not stick with. I'm a good example. I've been on Lemmy for over a year, but just abandoned my account on lemmy.world because I kind of hated it there lol.
