I have a pretty recent thinkpad that supposedly has "military grade durability". The plastic is literally falling apart at the corners after 2 years, and my fan grille is gone.
You can add another revision of nixpkgs as a flake input and use that revision for certain packages. Its not as ergonomic as in Arch (even though they officially dont support partial upgrades). But its still possible and having a stable and unstable flake input usually does the job for me.
I would actually pay for YT premium if it was reasonably priced and I think there are many like me. Why are they shooting themselves in the foot?
