  • This is how I quit smoking. Not comparing the two but you need to not be around it, if you are around it admit you are NOT in control and have a trusted friend help you (easier to not be around it).

Everyone says replace it with something healthy. No, replace with absolute hatred and loathing.

  • Maybe not the best news source but I don't have all day: https://theintercept.com/2015/08/03/17-years-reporter-exposed-echelon-finds-vindication-snowden-archive/

When I was a budding IT guy, the conspiracy theory that the five eyes nations were spying on each other and giving the intelligence to each other to get around rules prohibiting domestic spying was largely regarded as a paranoid conspiracy theory.

Network engineers that worked in internet backbone connectivity said there was no other really viable explanation for some of the patterns that were seeing and I believed these people after looking over some things they posted.

Well, eventually they were vindicted and the truth came out.

Ever since then, I've been a little slower to dismiss conspiracy theories.

Do I think JFK jr is coming back to lead The Storm, reinstate Trump, and finally put an end up the adrenochrome illuminati? No. But I'm a little more open minded than I used to be.

  • Thank you, I'm trying this today!

Edit: lol I have no idea why I got downvoted for asking for more info above.

Turns out I didn't get to try this until today but it's a terrific method and the simplest, tastiest ice coffee I've made at home to date. Thanks again!

  • I had a (well, several) toasters that didn't pop so well in my early travels through life and people would go crazy if I did this without unplugging it. Lol. I'm not raking the fork across the elements and the element is off, so...

Anyway, one of those disposable, wooden chop sticks works well for this and keeps people from thinking you either have never heard of electricity or have a death wish.

You can carve a little notch on the end if we're talking about a toaster oven (like a crochet hook).

  • I have often thought about how people today will be fine with hearing aids while people in my parents generation are obsessed with hiding them or not using them when they should because they don't want people to know that need them.

Those tiny hearing aids are hard to work with (changing the batteries, finding them of they go missing, etc). I'll be wearing headphones anyway, why not use them in hearing aid mode?

  • I remember finding a bug in the Linux kernel re AMD processors a very, very long time ago. I documented and reported it and later saw the report in a changelog or something. Still riding high off that 25 years later (I think, it's been a while).
