  • This will lead to a conversation.

I find people typically mean "racist who wants to use individual or institutional force to create a white, Christian government that eliminates or marginalized racial, cultural, and sexual minorities". Or whatever.

  • You are just asking questions, we get it.

A more productive conversation starter is you telling them what you think a fascist is and asking if they feel the same.

A overview of fascism is here https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fascism

Fascism and pro Nazi sentiment was very high going into ww2 in the US but government and popular media campaigns forced it underground. It was still out there, though, and is experiencing a ressurgence.

    Some people find this concerning.

  • I've experienced this and also very strong deja vu. It's why I feel like we are perceiving our future unfolding but don't think what we experience is fundamental reality, if there is such a thing. Sometimes it feels like reality as we experience it is a movie we are watching. We cannot necessarily rewind or fast forward but the rest of the movie is there and sometimes the player glitches and shows us those parts when it shouldn't.

  • Persuasive arguments against your point of view often entrench beliefs that were not examined critically in the first place.

If your beliefs are structured around oppositional, contrarian reactionary thinking to protect some aspect of your ego you are not considering other ideas that don't reinforce you.

  • Hi, I was joking, you are correct, but in an earlier comment I agreed with the person and said anger was how I quit smoking.

I don't want to make it seem like it's on the same level as what you have dealt with and I really feel like you seem like a strong person that has been through something that can break you.

Again, I was just goofing around, and basically agree with what you said here, despite my attempt at levity.
