  • Canada Post said arbitration would be long and complicated and would likely last more than a year

Oh, like the constant job action from workers because you won't bargain with them in good faith?

Corporate lies are so easy to identify because corporations have a compulsive need to passively misrepresent the situation in ways that unilaterally place them as innocent bystanders who are being unfairly targeted by evil, evil workers.

  • Ah, no worries for now. I took out the inline CSS and replaced it with an external file, so I'll work on that.

I made some minor adjustments already, like removing the transform on hover and having the whiteboard to expand to fit its container, so that's nice. Have you thought about implementing draw.io or excalidraw?

  • I just tested it again and now #general shows up right after I join on mobile. I think it's possible that I was having network/browser issues or something at the exact moment I tried it before. :p

I am really into this, it was such a breeze to set up. Are there plans to offer more customization options like custom CSS, an editable configuration file, or something like that? I have a Podman container set up and I'm thinking of creating a volume mount to add some very basic styling but official support would be great.

  • I'm gonna try this when I get time to tinker around since my friend and I are becoming exceedingly weary of Discord for communication. I also hate how bulky and rigid it is in its design.

Edit: Tested it on LAN between my PC and phone; it's easy to get running and works great. Some buttons seem invisible on mobile, like the channels list, so I had a hard time joining the "general" channel upon connecting to the workspace. I want to test it with my friend to see how it works across networks but it seems really promising so far.

  • An organization that isn't a dedicated banking service might not adhere to that model since it's not a dedicated banking service. Obviously that's the point I was making, that Canada Post has the chance to branch out and is uniquely flexible in the space, so they would have the ability to integrate some auxiliary services into their business model without much disruption at the post office level.

This approach also doesn't have additional personnel overhead since Canada Post already have staff and established locations. Cross-training postal employees is a lot easier and cheaper than having to establish and maintain a bank branch, especially one that offers mortgage/insurance brokerage or investment products. Canada Post wouldn't necessarily need to offer that, especially not right away.

  • You'll get a bunch of high-maintenance old people that still want to pay their bills in person and can't, and it'll lose money hand over fist.

I really don't think that that's an inevitability. Functionally, they would become very similar to a credit union and this would actually give Canada Post more flexibility as an organization to expand their parcel services as well as reconsider their utility to the average Canadian by offering financial services.

Canada Post is already very entwined with the Royal Canadian Mint through collectible coins and also sells money orders. Adding postal banking could be the start of a small portfolio of auxiliary services that Canadians find valuable in addition to their usual mail and parcel delivery. This would especially be a boon in rural or low-income areas where dedicated banking services are far away or unaffordable.

  • They're actually only about 48% accurate, meaning that they're more often wrong than right and you are 2% more likely to guess the right answer.

For this reason, they are inadmissible as evidence in court in Canada and the US, and possibly other places too.

  • Postal banking. The workers want it and even presented a proposal to the corporate leadership, who said no.

That said, delivering mail isn't supposed to be profitable. It's supposed to provide people with their mail.

  • I've been learning Russian and it's so much fun. Very challenging, but not as much as I expected. Of course, the case system is quite different from English, so you would have an easier time with French or Italian.

I've also heard Arabic is very cool to learn. It sounds quite nice too.

  • Did you read this article? It literally says this:

As you can see, the number of Switch 2 titles not on Game-Key Cards is very slim.

The only games that will be fully available on the cartridge are the ones explicitly singled out. There are 10. How is that significant?

  • Not in 10+ years when you can't download the rest of the game from the servers because they don't put the whole game on the cartridge anymore. Not to mention patches and DLC aren't on the cartridge either.
