  • recommend me some 10+ year old game series uwu

  • Still, free speech can be pursued despite the unavailability of a first amendment. I myself do not like being restricted in what I can say, so if I am limited, I will try to fight this limitation, whether I am sponsored by daddy Obama's freedom drones or not. Now, if I went around waving a print of the first amendment that would indeed be ridiculous, especially being in Europe where it's not a concern of governments or the people in general.

  • That's what I said though. Idk who mentioned the first amendment.

  • There is a common misunderstanding. First of all, this is a Canadian instance. There is no American constitution ruling over it. Second, free speech is not limited to the American constitution, or to governments. It is a concept that is related to people's ability to express themselves, not necessarily in relation to a governmental power.

  • Lemm.ee is only banning instances that have abnormal growth (i.e. They didn't enable captcha, have maybe 7 active users, and suddenly go from 30 total registrations to 52000 in a couple of days). Other than that there is nothing banned for ideological reasons unlike sh.itjust.works and other instances.

  • What is demonstrably true should be demonstrated to demonstrate its demonstrability.

  • If you don't want to see any kind of offensive content, I recommend signing up to Beehaw. It's a self proclaimed "safe space". This means that they actively delete offensive content, they do not allow nsfw, and they defederate from any instance they see as a danger to this safe space.

You can also browse instances from join-lemmy.org and look at their blocked instances. If you see instances that block many or some major instances that are right wing or promote things you don't like, you'll know you found the right place that will disallow offensiveness in your feed. :)

  • For some reason Cloudflare DNS changes are way faster than anything else I've tried. I'm more of a networking layman but I assume it's because they're an influential and well-connected node that others trust faster.

  • No no, nothing happened. It was all angry discussion by crowds who didn't know anything. The problems were solved very fast and no one ended up unhappy except for the troll.

  • Beehaw would not let 100k users into their platform to start with. They will grow according to their means to moderate. That's why they only allow sign-ups through application, go bring down the number of new sign-ups and filter by quality.

  • Admins* defederate instances*. Mods only have power inside their /c/ community.

  • Tell that to admins with strong opinions, and other admins who don't wanna anger admins with strong opinions and get defederated for not defederating the offenders.

  • True. Although, I've seen even the most aggressively defederated instances of mastodon be very active long-term and even grow. (poa.st may be one of the most defederated instances for example, and 1. there's still a lot of instances federated to them and 2. they still have a very active userbase.)

    Quick note about this:

the other was condoning heinous illegal activies regarding underage individuals

As far as I know, they don't actually condone anything regarding "individuals" per se. Afaik Burggit's underage content is limited to hentai (japanese-style drawings) specifically. Which is not to say it is not illegal, because in Canada, it is illegal and categorized as child pornography.

  • Apparently 3 people can’t admit George Clooney isn’t wearing that shirt to say they’re “losers”, he’s wearing it to say they’re evil, and stupid enough that they’re doomed to lose because they are ignorant of actual history.

Would he be wearing it if he agreed with the people being criticized? Like if he thought that it was, say, women, with the "losing" topic being anti-women legislation, he would probably not wear it. He wears it because he thinks that these people who are losing are also morally reprehensible. And, of course, that they are "losers" as well. But I don't think that saying that "he wears it to say they're evil" is complete falsehood, although the message is probably more like "these people are evil but they lose every time".

  • sh.itjust.works R34 when??

  • testing it for 5 minutes, so far i like it more than jerboa, looking awesome

  • thank you, i understand now the trump fascist perspective

i'm still feeling a bit left out on the anarcho-capitalist fascist perspective tho. Anarchists have a long history of wanting to use violence to get out of an authoritarian system. I'd say that's a similarity with fascism where they would circumvent the law to put themselves and their views first. But I'm not sure that's enough for that, as you did say that "as stated", it is an ideology that seeks to have a society without a 'state' or 'government'.

Is being racist, homophobic and monogamist and otherwise moralistic with some skewed morals enough to be called a fascist? Or to point toward being a fascist? Again afaik fascism is like Hitler or Mussolini where ppl decide "this figure is great and we need to break the law to get them absolute power, they will be equivalent to a king and will favor our people".

  • i understand that thedonald and donald trump is often associated with fascism, i don't really understand why this is the case, since as far as i know, fascism is a militaristic state. I do get that it has a lot in common since it's a paternalistic one-man figure which appeals to reactionaries that would advocate to leave aside the law to put the guy in charge of reforming the country and removing something.

i'm not very sure if that's really fascism or not, i'd say it's eh, dumb authoritarianism. covid conspirationalism, i've seen that shit in venezuela from ppl who were just randos who didn't know anything, ppl who said it was the 5g or china or whatever, i didn't see any political alignment to being dumb and gullible

the one that strikes me the most from your list is anarcho-capitalism, which is often associated with a "nation" without a government, much less a president or a dictator, which i thought was an absolute requirement for fascism and authoritarianism. i'm not very sure how this one could even approach being nazism.

  • ok so serious question, why do you (& others) say they're nazis? I've checked the instance and haven't seen anything that reminds me of nazism.
