  • I say this as someone who frequently uses generative ai, and actively chooses to pay for the service.

    Fuck openai.

This company has utterly failed to fulfill their mission statement, and they will be unable to make right by humanity until ALL software they have created is available to the public as FOSS (free and open source software). Openai claimed that this is exactly what they were going to do, and then they just didn't. So fuckem.

  • eventually, imma have to actually look into lemmy front ends or clients. I stand by the statement that I shouldn't have to, but I'll prolly have a better time of things if I did.

  • I really shouldn't comment on this, but I just can't help myself.

FIXING THINGS IS HARDER THAN BREAKING THINGS!!!

who woulda thunk it?!? I'd tell you to fuck off, but this is your instance so imma fuck off instead.

and by that I mean I will block anyone who responds to this comment, no iffs ands nor butts.

  • if someone says linux is hard to learn, that person isn't making regestry edits.

That said, windows used to be intuitive, but they peaked with xp and it's been a downhill slide since.

  • Of course not, but can you say that it's not convenient for them to stiffle foss alternatives to microsoft/apple/google software? many open source projects are at least partially made by russian developers.

  • when it was good, it was real good. Every subject I could want in one place, and I could organize it as I wish.

Lemmy is a confusing mess and lacking in basic features compared to reddit (although there's probably front ends I could download that would fix my complaints).

Obviously, I'm here, so the inconvenience is an acceptable price for not being on reddit anymore.

  • i imagine a perfect world in which everything has guis and the guis contain all the information I could want about what it does including the relevant terminal commands. In this way, the gui is also the manual.
