core count x clock speed hasn't been a good metric for about 15-20 years, but if we go by that anyway then it looks like the switch2 will be slightly worse than a steam deck.
We already know that the steamdeck plays switch games better than the switch. It would be hilarious if it also plays switch2 games better than the switch2.
if you're on Linux mint, check to see if mint itself is out of date. When I installed mint, the only install media I could find was 2 versions behind. Getting to the current version fixed my warframe problems.
I have been thus far entirely unsuccessful in convincing anyone else to make the jump. Normal people do not give a fuck, will not lift a finger to improve their digital lives. I've been telling friends and family about adblockers for YEARS, and not a single one ever bothered to do it of their own volition. If I don't do it for them, then they just sit through ads like complacent sheep. None of them are going to change operating systems if they can't even install a browser extension.
Companies that recognize that and improve their products and services in order to compete, results in better products and services as well as an influx of happy customers. See valve and steam.
Companies that don't improve and instead seek to stiffle competition through dmca and litigation get their products pirated and services ignored. See how nintendo games are the most pirated on any site that shows stats for such things.
For example, Mario 3 is fucking ancient, how many times does nintendo expect me to buy it? They got my money several times over, and now in order to legally play it on a current platform, it's locked behind a subscription service. No thank you. Besides, I prefer to play platformers with a keyboard. I'd pay for nintendo games again if they let me download to my pc.
Except, what about all the games I bought online for my wiiu and 3ds? Those storefronts are gone, so anything I didn't already have downloaded is gone. If anything happens to those consoles, the few games I do have on them are gone. (i personally never actually had a 3ds or wiiu, but lots of people did and are in this exact boat). I cannot trust nintendo to preserve my purchases, like I can with any other modern digital storefront.
and dread wasn't that good. Before that was nintendos metroid 2 remake, which also wasn't very good. Neither were bad, but the genre has moved on without nintendo and standards are higher now. I haven't been blown away by a metroid game since the fan game am2r, and that makes me sad.
feels like everything Nintendo does these days is is too little too late. I was playing gamecube games on my pc 15 years ago, 1080p, anti aliasing, save states, shaders, whatever controller I wanted, so on and so forth.
This is a nice plus for people who were going to buy a switch2 anyway, but from the perspective of someone who would need to be convinced (especially after being burned by nintendos asinine refund policy a few years back), I'm a bit offended by these paltry offerings.
I would prefer to run my ais locally, but my brain glazes over if I see github. I found a a program called "gpt4all", but it's very limited in what models it can run, and what I could get just wasn't as good for my use case as openai's 4o model. Also, being able to generate images in the same conversation as text work is a feature that I'm fairly certain no other ai model can do (yet).
If I took a hard stance of not engaging with any business that did things I morally object to, I'd be forced to be a self-sufficient hermit in the woods.
I made my statement based on popular opinion. I don't have personal experience with it.
