  • I have a little bit of sympathy for people who are from another era

I don't. Trans people are a new thing for me too, they didn't "exist" in my formative years. I grew up in Oklahoma surrounded by conservative Bible-belt redneck N-word-spouting family, at a public school where "gay" and "hermaphrodite" were used as gym insults. I'm a straight-passing white cis male with pretty blue eyes, the least oppressed motherfucker out here and a perfect candidate for growing up to be a shitty supremacist.

Yet I'm the farthest thing from one, because all it actually takes is asking myself "Why should I have a problem with this? Does it affect anyone other than the person being made happier?" When the answer comes up as "no," it's A-OK in my book. And don't get me started on the pricks who think "but I'm Christian!!!" is an excuse for anything, God is supposed to judge us, not my asshole neighbor Karen who grew up on leaded gas and cigarettes.

  • TERFs may be the dumbest people alive. How are you going to be all about equality and acceptance after literally thousands of years of women being mistreated, only to turn around and do that to a different group and see no problem with it? Absolutely mindless.

  • The problem with UWP is that nobody liked or wanted it, so obviously it died. Developers got locked into a walled garden, Xbox users saw no benefit (until recently with emulators, but I digress), Windows phone users practically didn't exist to build apps for, and PC gamers got the real short end of the stick with everything becoming a buggy, locked-down, performance-hampering, feature-lacking mess.

Outside of letting Microsoft half-ass port some Xbox titles to PC, it was pretty much useless.

  • Linux suffers from being a patchwork of hobbyists updates, corporate additions, and patchy distro support. When it comes down to it, if you have an issue, you either have to solve it on your own or hope and pray the elitists on StackOverflow are in a good mood.

    Honestly, every OS kinda sucks.

  • Debatable, considering all that's stopping you from using it for free is a watermark and lack of personalization options.

Plus, I'm using the Windows 10 Education key my college gave me, and my Windows 7 Home key from way back in the day would work too, as well as the Windows 8 key that came with my Surface Pro 3. The cost feels like a formality tbh.

  • Considering their subscription competitor costs $204 a year while they were at $120/yr, I think it's pretty clear why they boosted the upper tiers so much. Even with this price increase, it's still $44 cheaper than Ultimate and imo a better overall value in terms of game quality.

What's really trash is that they're increasing the price of the base PS+ membership, and by so much. It now costs $150 a year to play just Madden, CoD, or EA Soccer, on top of a minimum $400 console purchase. That's absurd. I would say this is a W for Xbox, but they already tried to increase the price of Gold and they'll definitely try again now that they know there's no escaping it.

    ...Other than buying a PC.

  • I have useless managers at work that like to try and bend the rules, and it gets hella on their nerves when I just outright ignore or argue with them because I know they're wrong and that they can't justify firing me. I recommend anyone else in that position humble those "above" them when possible.

It's wild, actually. I got away with saying "this is why no one likes you" to one because they were the instigator after I'd annoyed them enough. Like they went to the next level up in management over it and got told they were the one in trouble lmfao

  • Gonna be real with you, this is a terrible take. I'd much rather have games pushing boundaries at the cost of some bugs rather than a bunch of the same old regurgitated elements over and over to be safe.

GTA3 had plenty of bugs, the Purple Nines glitch being particularly infamous. Literally nobody out there is saying "wow, I wish they'd stuck with the top-down style games instead of going 3D because this bug has seriously inconvenienced me."

  • I know it's not a film, but it's wild to me that John Marston from Red Dead Redemption 1/2 is voiced by...a construction worker in Indiana.

But more accurate to the question, I thought 8 Mile was pretty good, though the last time I saw it I was like 15.

  • It's the same as when Elden Ring dropped. Even people who never played Souls games prior were picking it up because it was just a complete, solid open world RPG.

I've never played Baldur's Gate before, but I'm probably gonna pick 3 up to play with my roommate in splitscreen.

  • Don't forget the games that were already pulled. This includes every Valve game that isn't Portal: Still Alive (which is arguably a better version of the game than the version that came with the now-delisted Orange Box but whatever) and Portal 2, as well as other major titles like Skate 2 and Jet Set Radio.

Microsoft has the money to figure this out, they just don't actually care enough to. I mean for fuck's sake, they own Bethesda and we still can't even play Quake 4 on modern Xboxes. What's the excuse there, Phil?

After years of dealing with his PR statements one after another, I just switched back to PlayStation for the first time since around 2015 since they don't yank my chain about features. I still think they've put less effort and freedom into their platform, but they never say something positive like this and then just forget about it.

  • I still go for a Monster every now and then when I'm feeling spicy, but I cut back on my energy drinks when I was trying to write something at work and was struggling because I was shaking from a Rockstar Energy drink. That shit tastes like poison and the only reason I had so many that I was drinking them regularly was Halo Infinite cosmetics.

They're a fun "sip this to keep from passing out once in a while" sort of drink but energy drinks are absolutely terrible.
