  • Not to mention accessibility settings in games themselves. Fortnite has an option to visually show sounds and their directions on the HUD and it was amazing when I spent a month with no audio solution, I can't imagine what a breath of fresh air it is for deaf gamers. The Last of Us Pt2 is also wildly player-friendly, and recently I've even been seeing some indie titles like Metal Unit do their best to assist players and let them enjoy the game.

Accessibility is only getting better, and I think this cynicism is unwarranted. We should certainly keep up the fight and demand for it, but you go back two decades and games didn't even come with subtitles as standard. Doom 3 still pisses me off in that regard.

  • I believe the originals are restored now

Nope. They temporarily made it so that buying Definitive Edition on the Rockstar Launcher granted the originals until outrage died down, but the original versions of the games still require either a disc or piracy now that they seemingly removed even that. I can confirm that the PS4 versions of the games that were the PS2 versions in an emulator are still missing, too.

  • All other game developers in the history of games have understood the concept of making the lowest-powered device you're launching on the baseline for development. We've dealt with crippled titles on more powerful consoles for ages, I'm sure Larian'll figure it out for their next game.

  • it really was just "another Saints Row game" but with better characters.

This is sarcasm, right? If it were even close to that we all would've loved it. To me, it felt like the worst parts of later SR games mashed up with a desperate attempt to replicate Watch_Dogs 2's vibe. I don't play Saints Row to play as a dude trying to pay off their student loans while fighting "gangs" that have access to random bullshit technology like neon batons that spin real fast and deflect bullets. That's the type of stuff that should've stayed in Agents of Mayhem with its far less grounded setting.

  • Mine definitely weren't when I graduated in 2016. Towards the end there, I legit spent most of the day just sitting in the band hall with a handful of 360 controllers playing games (mostly Duck Game) on my laptop with friends and passersby. Virtual classes, concurrent college classes, and a travel hour pretty much gave me free reign to fuck around most of the week because I wasn't required to be in class except on specific days for those classes. Never got physically bullied, even had a middle-school verbal bully apologize to me. I saw plenty of people come out as LGBT comfortably, I saw football players compliment the marching band, it really wasn't that bad unless you were one of those people who got into fights, stole shit, and tried to sell drugs.

I have no doubt that schools can be hellholes, but I wouldn't say it's a given.

  • That's not what's being argued. You don't own a picture just because you're in it and this has been proven legally on numerous cases, the story behind the LUL Twitch emote being a relatively recent example.

Trump can take a selfie and put it on a shirt. If I take a picture of him and upload it to my site, I can sue him if he uses that picture instead. The argument is that the jail can too.

  • I cannot extract a silver lining out of this announcement no matter how hard I try. This is like Activision announcing that the next Call of Duty will be made by Mojang, they're just so fucking grossly incompatible with each other that it makes absolutely zero sense.

  • Gamepass Ultimate cloud streaming and GeForce Now have both worked well for me if you wanna give them a shot as a replacement. PlayStation and Amazon both have their own streaming as well but I'm less experienced with those.

  • No, you don't, because Fallout 4 was particularly trash on both counts. It's explicitly why I haven't even subbed to Gamepass or anything for Starfield after growing up obsessed with Oblivion, FO3, FONV, and Skyrim, as well as buying the Pip Boy Edition of FO4 because I was so excited for it.

  • Graphics are like, one of the last things I give a shit about as long as they're not hampering the game. I don't care if I'm playing Wolfenstein 3D or the latest triple-A graphics splurgefest so long as it's a fun game, but stuff like Cruelty Squad is an absolute no-go because of the dogshit HUD that serves only to distract the player and make it feel claustrophobic.

  • I didn't grow up playing FF, but bought 15 on Steam on a whim because "road trip with the bros" sounded cool. I enjoyed it, but then when FF7R came out, they made so many exclusivity deals among other stuff like iirc being the first dev to sell a game on PC at $70 that all my interest kinda waned. Square Enix surrounds these games with so much bullshit that it's just not worth trying to follow it anymore as someone who doesn't mainly play on PS.

  • Honestly, you'd probably like a reasonable chunk of other RE games for the reasons you listed. Several of them also have randomizer mods if you're playing on PC, which can change the locations of item spawns, enemies, and even what room is on the other side of the door (for the older games) so you really have no idea what's around the next corner.

4, 5, and 6 are more linear, but 4 and 5 are great for inventory and economy management (with the caveat that you should play 5 in co-op) and 6 is definitely a skip. 0, 1, 3, Code Veronica, and Village are all recommendations from me, though RE2 is one of the most beloved games in the franchise for a reason.

  • It's only a problem if you leave the litter box out. Ours are all in the master bathroom, so that the living room doesn't smell. The bathroom certainly smells, I'm extremely sensitive to smell so I straight-up go in with my nose covered, but the rest of the place is fine.

I also recommend wax melters. Wal-Mart sells this "Orange Buttercream" wax that smells exactly like Froot Loops, it's amazing.

  • Oh, Russia is mad that another country is making illegal claim to territory they see as their own?

Slava Ukraini. Crimea isn't the only thing Russia's going to lose now that the entire world knows their military is a husk.
