  • The timing of the memo is sensitive, coming before key elections in the Netherlands, Czech Republic, and possibly France. It also references recent elections in Poland and Romania.

Critics fear the memo signals U.S. support for far-right candidates and could encourage political interference in European elections.

They're 100% going to meddle in elections, that's a bipartisan issue:

Speaking to the Jewish Press about the January 25, 2006, election for the second Palestinian Legislative Council (the legislature of the Palestinian National Authority), Clinton weighed in about the result, which was a resounding victory for Hamas (74 seats) over the U.S.-preferred Fatah (45 seats).

“I do not think we should have pushed for an election in the Palestinian territories. I think that was a big mistake,” said Sen. Clinton. “And if we were going to push for an election, then we should have made sure that we did something to determine who was going to win.”

Seriously, fucking up other people's election is one of America's favorite pass times and largest open secrets.

It would be naive to expect trump to be the only president who didn't do it

Which doesn't mean it's ok trump is doing it.

It means we need to be pissed anytime a president does it, not just when it's trump

The fuck kind of popup is that?

Let them sell IP addresses to 437 different people or pay $5 a week?

If this is a real story I'm sure more reputable places will be picking it up shortly, absolutely no one should agree to that popup.

    Quick edit:

No other sources it seems, but here's msn rehosting the same article without the crazy agreement to sell your IP:

  • And it did all of that because some executive thought that would make the most money...

If they thought the opposite message would have made more money, that's what the character would have done.

    Like, I dunno.

It doesn't seem that complicated to me, but apparently it is.

  • Barbie isn't sentient...

A corporation decides what she would or would not do.

The recent movie was all about female empowerment, but if the corp decides the far right would give them more money, then the sequel will be about how great working at a concentration camp is.

  • ?

Barbie does whatever makes the corporation money...

They'd 100% release an actual ICE Barbie if they thought it would make money.

Fuck fascists and all that, but it doesn't mean we have to defend corporations that will sell us out for a slightly higher short term profit margin

  • Doctors have a duty to report when there are certain dangers.

    But not after...

Which, again, would explain the fifth

If he didn't say it then, saying it now would mean he loses his license.

I dunno, this is one of those things I'm just gonna accept some people can't understand

  • While 10,000 miles of river sounds like a lot...

We've known for a while that Mars had oceans, and even glacier ice caps.

Maybe on this one specific area there wasn't direct evidence of water, but Mars would have had rain and thus rivers all over the globe.

So despite no direct evidence, it was a reasonable assumption to see riverways like this.

  • It's not extraordinary...

He's a doctor, he can't say shit without losing his medical license. He has to plead the fifth even if there wasn't a coverup about Biden's mental health.

They should be questioned his aides and cabinet that covered it up, they can actually be forced to testify.

    This is empty theater

  • The problem is two-fold:

    1. You can't afford flood insurance if your lender doesn't require it which would have lowered the purchase price.
    2. If your land was declared a flood zone after you bought it, you're fucked if you have to add on the insurance.

The result is a lot of places that should be declared a flood zone, are prevented from being accurately labeled as such by the very people who live there or more accurately who own the property.

For that and many reasons it's not as easy as blaming the homeowners for living there.

  • Surprised it took so long for the article to state the obvious reason:

That means that some students might be pushed to turn to private lenders, who tend to charge higher interest rates.

It doesn't lower tuition. It removes access to federal loans

  • There’s usually one or two guys who are willing to play the “big scary” when necessary

    It's not even willingness...

I'm a huge dude, basically the human equivalent of a silverback.

Especially in big events like college/pro sports or music festivals, if I was with a large coed group, random dudes approached me before hitting on any of the women around.

It wasn't like they came up thumping chests or asking permission.

They'd just test the waters with me and if I seemed cool pivot to hitting on the women. Because out of everyone in the group, if I had a problem with them, I would literally and figuratively be their biggest problem.

But size doesn't mean shit in the modern world, so it's super weird for big guys, especially if it starts when they're young. Sometimes it goes to people's heads and that's pretty much where bullies come from. The people who tolerate that behavior and hang around reinforce it and it just feedback loops

  • It's wild some places don't have these...

I've lived all of the country including SC, and these were just a normal part of life. If you were close enough your home could be in danger, you could usually hear it from inside.

Cell notifications are nice. But storm alarms like this for flooding, fire, tornadoes, anything saves lives.

We can't just rely on one method, this is a clear example where redundancy is a positive.

  • It's called a dead man's switch and there's not really anything complicated about it.

The thing is, it's so so simple I doubt anyone has made a full on app to do it.

Like, the people who do that stuff aren't the type to require an app to do everything for them.

  • The nazis kept claiming their victims deserved to be genocided too...

It's a safe bet anytime someone refuses to criticize the aggressors and only tries to rationalize their acts, that nothing they're saying is being communicated honestly.

There's no valid reason to listen to fascist propaganda, before anyone tries to claim we need to listen to "both sides".

If Israel wants people to listen, they can stop the fucking genocide then talk.

  • When Carter was named candidate it almost fractured the Dem party...

Because Jimmy F'n Carter was too conservative and Dem voters felt it was a beginning of a long pivot away from the left

Like, you know how Trump's talking about kicking people off welfare so they'd get jobs? That was a big part of Carter's stump speeches too.

People really don't understand how much we've fucking lost as a country.
