Because the rich, like Bill Gates, are often so far removed from our reality as to be useless.

How in the hell are we supposed to pay the high cost of vegan meat when even basic foodstuffs are through the roof?

It'd be nice if he came down on companies using their increased wealth for stock buy-backs to enrich investors instead. Or condemn supermarket conglomerates for cutting staff and wages while hiking prices to make millions/billions more in profits.

Especially when it was the feds and provinces who caused the foreign investment problem in the first place, ie: nobody wanted to stop the money flowing into Canada (starting in the early 90's) even tho it was being done to launder funds through BC casinos and property purchases.

Too many people either don't understand or don't take into account systemic issues that are foundational to many institutions.

I'd go for this except I got a false HIV-positive back in '89 and no matter what I do I can't get it off my blood donation record. :(

In the early 2000's a mobile home in oil sands territory (Alberta) was $450k.

Canada's been working a long time on our housing bubble ... which is about to crash.

There's a reason it took 2.5 years to bring charges, and it's not that multiple prosecutors were sitting on their ass twiddling their thumbs.

  • @NathanielThomas

I have worked since I was 12 yrs old, went to both college and university, and have never once made over $100k per year.

Currently I'm on a fixed income, have limited job opportunities and recently had to downsize to a rooming house as I couldn't afford my bachelor apartment anymore.

Do not equate your hardships with those of us who are facing living on the streets with one missed cheque.

"We want people to be free to do whatever they want without (government) intervention when the number’s going up."

Who is this "we" you speak of?

  • @sadreality @avidamoeba

Kind of hard to blame the victims here when it's not their fault successive Canadian gov'ts failed to stop illegal money coming into Canada in the 90's -- which, once washed through BC casinos, went straight into property purchases that started the housing bubble we're in now.

Stop whining about how bad you feel whenever patriarchy is mentioned. Your whataboutism is irrelevant.

Ofc not all men are to blame, but enough men are that it causes huge disparities in sentencing and treatment of offenders AND victims.

If you are blind to that it's your problem, not ours.

His bail was revoked because he was contacting witnesses.

Classic example of fuck around and find out.
