  • I've come back to this four times today already. Each time my appreciation grows for how masterfully wrong this is.

The uneven distribution of the slices of Emmental cheese. The chaotic squiggle of Sriracha. The chunks of pineapple balancing on the edge.

    You are a genius.

  • Same! Skarsgard was very jarring compared to my mental image of Murderbot.

  • Are you a breeder, dog trainer or dog handler?

Because that's not how it works. You can breed for particular traits, as you mentioned, but behavioural characteristics (such as aggression) are more complex than simple genetic traits. You could breed two highly aggressive dogs together and get a placid dog as a result.

You're talking about behavioural characteristics, not skills. Dogs don't know how to fight without training any more than people know how to drive a car without lessons.

And as far as aggressive behaviour goes, pitbulls aren't necessarily any more or less aggressive than other breeds. There have been lots of studies on aggression in dogs that show that breed is not a good predictor of behavioural tendencies (https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9679229/).

  • The issue is people having bread them for fighting.

That's not how breeding works. Fighting dogs are trained to fight, they don't just grow up with inbuilt knowledge.

  • Please listen to the people with experience working with or handling dogs. Pitbulls and other breeds aren't the problem. Irresponsible pet owners are

  • Jesus Christ, I swear some people just sit and wait for any cute picture of a pitbull so they can pounce and make "rip someone's face off" comments.

This is a community for cute pictures/stories. Please don't push your dog breed alarmism here.

  • I probably should get more sleep because I initially read butterhead as butthead 😂

  • We are so not surviving in the wild

  • 👏🏻

  • If not friend, why friend shaped?

  • Nah not stupid 😊 "command" is a little ambiguous in the documentation.

  • I think it means any command you can run from the shell.

  • I mean, oxygen is highly reactive and damaging. Eventually that kills us too.

  • Oh thank you, I haven't read Fallen Dragon and it sounds exactly the kind of book I'd enjoy, so it's going on my reading list.

  • I've been reading the Wayfarers series by Becky Chambers and I've really been enjoying them. They're not hard sci fi but the stories are engaging and I really like how the characters interact with each other.

Also, if you haven't read any Alistair Reynolds I'd highly recommend any/all of his books. Harder sci fi but also incredibly well-thought out.

  • Oh wow I did not realise it was "collard greens". I've been writing "collared greens" 🤦🏻

    The food looks delicious!

  • I'm particularly partial to the band Bohren & der Club of Gore, who play "dark jazz". Imagine the kind of jazz you'd expect to be playing at 3am in a smokey, forgotten jazz club where cynical private detectives go to drink away the memories of the one woman who got away.

  • I set about trying to answer this and imposter syndrome kicked in hard. But I'm learning to ignore that self-critical inner voice.

I'm great at problem-solving and finding creative solutions to difficult problems. That hyperfocus/obssessive thinking trait really comes to the fore here.

I'm also good at music, especially when it comes to analyzing and recreating particular sounds.
