  • Omg I forgot about the letters. Also made me remember those characters you could customize with clothes and backgrounds and stuff. I guess the prequel to bitmojis but they were like, edgy and cool.

If anyone remembers what I'm talking about can you remind me the name?

  • I know for someone who is not used to fentanyl, a very very low dose can kill them, but again:

As harm reduction advocate Zoë Dodd noted, fentanyl is generally sold on the streets in 100-milligram increments.

“If you’re talking about Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, fentanyl users are using a quarter gram [250 milligrams] or more a day,” according to Guy Felicella, a harm reduction and recovery advocate.

Unless I'm misunderstanding the article here, they're talking about people who carry a SHITLOAD of fentanyl for personal use.

  • I felt this way a few years ago when we had the idiot convoy ride across Canada. The flag became a symbol for racist, anti-vax, just general assholes.

I never was a huge fan of flying the flag anyway, because to me it represents colonialism, but I never used to mind it as much. Now when I see it out of place, I just assume bad, unless it's one of our more cheerful variations like the indigenous design or the heart one that was used to show support for medical workers.

I see other people getting down voted for similar sentiments, but visiting the US always made me feel uncomfortable to see ALL the flags. I honestly haven't been to another country that takes that much pride in their flag. Until the convoy, I don't think I even ever saw anyone flying Canadian flag in their yard except maybe for Canada Day.

Idk, what I'm saying is, I feel for you, I understand it's a symbol of your national identity, but also, maybe take more pride in what actual good Americans do rather than in just some made up symbolism of what they should be.

  • “There are always hand-to-hand transactions, from dealers to drug users to other drug users. It’s a constant exchange in the Downtown Eastside. It’s pretty common for people to pool their money to buy from a dealer and then those drugs get distributed.”

These hand-to-hand exchanges constitute trafficking, which would — under the proposed policy — subject every habitual fentanyl user to a punishment of life in prison

The article explains how the users are often also selling, and I disagree that those people (who are "redistributing") should be in jail, specifically for life.

The legislation would need to differentiate between redistributors who are users and like big, idk the term, wholesale drug dealers? But under PP's plan, anyone with 40 mg (according to the article that's less than half a baby aspirin) would go to jail for life for that.

It just doesn't make sense to me to jail drug users, even if they're just selling amongst themselves, and especially not for life where we have to pay for them in taxes.

  • Most important thing would be pictures and mementos honestly, but most of my stuff lives at my parents house because I do not have any space, so I guess some stuff would be safe.

Of course I'd lose electronics and gaming stuff too but that feels more replaceable than my other things.

Also would probably kill me to lose my cat's ashes.

  • I absolutely hate OneDrive and similarly to you would go out of my way to save on my device for work. We had to upgrade to win11 recently and now all my documents, pictures, etc automatically redirect to OneDrive.... :| this is an "improvement" according to them.

Also the amount of copilot that's being pushed on us. I know AI can do lots of things but holy God let me read my own fucking emails.

  • This was great for me as well, even in social science contexts. I'd draw out stick versions of historical events or do wordplay with names and events. And my notes would all be written as if I were retelling a friend's story, rather than using any professional lingo. I was never good (and am still not) at remembering specific dates though, just general timelines.

  • Oh that's so stressful. I actually hate sharing my song and movie recommendations because I usually like weird indie shit that nobody else enjoys (as pretentious as that makes me sound). I get extremely self conscious about my taste in stuff and would 100% worry that I gave the wrong recommendation.

Oh god just thinking about this is giving me anxiety.

  • Sometimes games cause such a strong emotional reaction for me that I genuinely cannot recreate the same feeling. Same with books and movies. I end up feeling nostalgic for when I first discovered it.

Sure a new game might be really good and immersive in a similar way, but it'll never be the same, y'know?

  • While it gives me hope, I am still very genuinely worried that when the election is in full swing there will be extensive foreign meddling in the campaigns and media. Especially considering American oligarchs control mainstream social media exclusively now.
