  • I see your point but a government not liking someone vs a government protecting themselves against a credible threat are different things. Musk has shown that he has the ability to severely damage democratic systems, what other regular citizen has that kind of power?

  • I see your point but it's not like they did it on purpose. Someone (multiple someones) fucked up big time with that old Nazi but the situation's not really comparable imo.

One was some old dude that was a guest, the other one is literally threatening democratic systems. Mind you, there is at least one very prominent person in our government who has openly approved of this Nazi, sure would be a shame if he got any power in the next election.

  • I just started trying to de-google and I'm having a really difficult time with the search engines. I switched to duckduckgo on recommendation and while it's nice not to have the AI response (that was my biggest bother), I'm having a really difficult time getting good results for local businesses and like even tv shows. I know a lot of it is that Google is spying on me so it'll usually know what I'm getting at even if my search wasn't the best, but I'm just not sure how I can improve my queries or what I'm doing wrong.

  • I just woke up physically tired from sleep. Not in a "I'm sleepy" kind of way, in a "did I just run a fucking marathon why am I in so much pain" kind of way.

    I didn't ask for life.

  • In Canada a bunch of people brought their flags back because of the bullshit threats.

The issue remains that last time a bunch of Canadians got their flag out was in support of the idiot convoy that crossed Canada in support of ignorance and white supremacy.

I understand and appreciate solidarity against the American government, but I'd like it if we could go back to not waving our colonial flag everywhere.

  • I don't like recommending to friends because then they'll ask me what my account is and I prefer to stay anonymous. I feel like I probably have friends that are on Lemmy and haven't shared with me for the same reason tbh.

The worst thing I ever did was get to the front page of Reddit back in 2010 and then all my friends knew my handle forever.

  • Linkedin serves a professional purpose so I can see why it'd be the most consistently searched. Like even if people don't actively use it, at least part its purpose is for hiring managers to be able to search a person and have their professional persona pop up. It's the most accessible way to find a version of a person online that's not restricted or under a pseudonym.

That being said, people that actively use it for anything other than keeping their resume up to date or job search/hiring are usually nutjobs.

  • I will stand by Pauly Shore's Pinocchio as pure art, but I can't promise that I've ever seen it sober, or that I've sat through the entire thing (I may have?).

I also enjoyed Wonka which has decent ratings but I've always heard people talking shit on it.

  • The movie was filmed down the street from where I grew up, so maybe for that reason or just for whatever lack of parenting reason, I watched this movie multiple times at the age of like 8 or 9.

I turned out okay, everything is fine. I think I need to rewatch it to check exactly in which ways it fucked me up.

  • Cartoon Network games! I remember one set of adventure games that I loved to play but I couldn't understand English very well yet so I'd always make my dad play with me and translate. Resort something. I look them up on the Wayback machine once in a while.
