  • I feel like people are making me feel like I'm crazy for being worried for my uncle who is a (gay) social justice professor in California but I can't be that fucking crazy right? He's an activist and an immigrant, he should be getting the fuck out of there.

  • My dad is 69 this year and has voted for the NDP every single vote he's been eligible for. It's not as much of a generational game as you'd think.

Now I just have to convince him to vote strategically this year unfortunately.

  • I'm not 100% that I understand/agree with what they're saying but on a personal level, I don't feel comfortable with the "purchase Loblaws" instead of "purchase Walmart" since both are capitalist companies and neither care about human rights ("culture war") regardless of their country of origin.

I say buy local/small business to support the economy and fuck capitalist pigs like the Waltons or the Westons (recognizing that comes from a privileged pov of being able to afford to boycott those companies.)

  • These have been around since before though. I always used to see a similar one but with beef burgers. They show off about how Canadian their product is when the truth is legally they have to use egg/milk and I guess beef products in Canada because we have different (better) standards than American counterparts.

  • Maybe not everyone agrees with me that this is a bubble, but at least I feel like I am with like minded people and can be pretty sure that what I consider to be hateful shit will be downvoted, and I'm happy being in a space like that.

At the same time, I don't really blame people that don't realize they're in an echo chamber (whether here or on Reddit or anywhere), it's just social media working as intended.

  • What got me about it, having watched more of the clip now, is how after he 'misheard' and said "I'm aware", so much of the crowd started chanting his name. Like how are they not seeing this is what left-minded voters want.

I've always been an NDP voter and it sucks to feel like I have to vote liberal this time but it would feel so much better if they could just fucking come out and say it. Enough is enough.

  • The whole image seems made to be satirical. We're all in our own bubbles so for anyone to judge another person for the same thing is a wild take.

I don't mind being in a bubble here cause it is safe and nice to be among like-minded people, but at least I am aware I am in a bubble.

  • I have very little debt and no savings, but a 10k gift would only pay for like 2-3 months of living. That's not enough for me to sell out my fellow countrypeople and give up my most basic rights.

Hell even a million wouldn't be enough for me to agree to be American at this point.

  • I'd like to point out that you're in this mess because the US system has failed its citizens so badly that addiction is rampant and there is little to no social support for mental health or people experiencing poverty. Not to mention that your government provided those guns to the mexican cartels AND played a huge role in causing drug addiction in the US in the first place.

I have said it before and will say it again, the demand for drugs comes from WITHIN the US. Fix your social support systems and stay the fuck out of everyone else's business.

  • Everyone should be required to take Plain Language writing courses.

There's a lot of factors at play as to why more people prefer it now, but who cares really. Writing in plain language makes it accessible for everyone and doesn't hurt anyone.
