  • I learned this fact when I decided to check my spam emails once and found one claiming they had a video of me performing onanism and would send it to my friends and family if I didn't pay up.

Gave me the idea to explore languages on Google Translate until I found the one that produces the word "onanism" when translating to English. Then I could reply to the scammer in their native tongue for a reverse blackmail.

  • I think the anime people will instantly know they're AI and think you're just a coomer obsessed with anime titties in particular.

What would be funny is to sticker bomb Teslas and Cybertrucks with shit like this.

  • We are swiftly reaching a time where boycotting companies run by people you disagree with will negatively impact your ability to function. Consider abandoning this type of purchasing in the future.

    LOL

    LMAO, even.

  • Since y'all probably know more about VPNs than me, is Mullvad any good? I bought them to use for torrents, though haven't tried seeding anything yet. I assume they're good with that?

Also, anyone know if they're run by MAGA creeps?

  • I pirated her book (because fuck her, she was a Facebook exec) and learned that she had a gnarly near-death experience as a child when she got attacked by a shark at the beach.

I didn't finish the book due to a combination of laziness and my general revulsion at anything Zuck adjacent, but if you have the stomach for it there's a cool shark attack story in it for you at least.

  • It's usually easier to criticize something than to go through the effort of understanding it. Posts like the OP are an example of that.

... And ironically, your post is doing the same thing here with software packaging:

The biggest conceptual change in packaging has been “waste as much disk as you like duplicating dependencies to avoid conflicting dependencies”,

Nobody is perfect, so it's important to keep an open mind about things, especially when one don't understand them, and especially² when one thinks they understand them as it's always possible to be wrong (unless they don't care about going through life as an ignorant asshole. Plenty of people thrive like that.)

  • I expect this will happen soon with Trump in the US, if it hasn’t already.

LMAO as a child of Cuban immigrants, I can assure you that there are already plenty of Cuban Americans in this country worshipping Trump as if he were Jesus. My grandfather had a portrait of him on his nightstand before he passed, right next to his beloved grandchildren (although tbf he was in the early stages of dementia at the time)

Whichever candidate accuses the other of being a communist first wins that privilege in the mind of the Cuban immigrant. Republicans have been winning that game since the first balsero landed in Miami. There's a spanish language radio station here called Radio Mambi which is an endless stream of the worst pro-Trump propaganda imaginable.

It's equal parts scary and depressing. These people escaped one authoritarian regime and are now flocking to another. It legit makes me ashamed.

  • serving as good PR.

Why would Buffet need "good PR"? He's a trader who just buys and sells shit all day. If anything, something like this would be bad PR as rich people wouldn't want to invest in his companies.

    ABAB

I agree, but I feel you're just swinging at the air here.

  • I think the more important insight is how desperately he is trying to appeal to the young male demographic, and going so far as to pay a pro gamer to boost his account in a video game so he can pretend to be one of them.

Why? Probably a lot of potential reasons, but anyone with even a little bit of critical thinking skills should immediately become suspicious when they see that. Because whatever the actual reason, it probably isn't good.

  • I don't have the link, but I read somewhere that this was actually part of the Project 2025 plan, to use sockpuppet accounts and bots to drown online discourse and prevent anyone messaging that hurts the movement from picking up steam and going viral. (Althougj the strategy is probably different on platforms they control, like Twitter and maybe Reddit)

Duh. I would never get between a lion and his meal.

Whatever crazy thing it is you're planning to do, just remember the shooting in Pennsylvania. That gave the Trump campaign so much credibility that it might have even won him the election. Even my neighbor replaced the American flag on his lawn with one showing Trump's face with a bloody ear. The GOP message is that there's a conspiracy/evil cabal trying to undermine America, and they're the good guys.

Large scale peaceful protests showing that America disagrees with their nonsense is much more powerful than any well-placed bullet. The former can lead to change and possibly even impeachments, the latter to civil war, death, and destruction.
