I'm savoring Baldur's Gate 3, not necessarily waiting to play it per se but not wanting to binge it. I'm planning on waiting on Starfield for at least a few months.
Speaking as Jew, this post makes me very uneasy. Equating race with intelligence has a very dark history, and the discussion of this specific topic is often littered with misinformation and outright antisemitism.
I think it varies and is highly dependent on what community you are venturing into. Some are more heavily moderated than others from what I can tell. I don't think it's any more or less than it was on Reddit (I'd argue for the most part it's still great in comparison), but I think it just is a lot more noticeable due to the user count being so small right now.
I think having a means of viewing uploaded images as an admin would be helpful, as well disabling external image caching. Like an "uploaded" gallery for admins to view that can potentially hook into Photodna/CSAI-Match or whatever.
Please, please, please do not blame yourself for this. This is not your fault. You did what you were supposed to do as a mod and stepped up and asked for help when you needed to, lemmy just needs better tools. Please take care of yourself.
It's interesting, that's for sure. But the fact it is filled by nazis and the comment section is just swarming with antisemitism and bigotry is very much not something I'm willing to sift thru.
But that's not how these things always work. People will post offending content in seemingly innocuous communities to cause as much destruction as possible.
They are a dumbass if they do this cause they will get prosecuted themselves for posting that. There's a safe harbor provision for server admins so long as they make a good faith effort to report when it is brought to their attention (at least in the US). So long as you are doing your due diligence as a web host, you should be fine.
