  • 2nd place in a competition of 30odd teams made up of the best players from each nation around the world.

We didn't lose, we came 2nd. We should be damn proud of those women and the entire team behind them.

  • It's really sad. And a difficult situation.

With one hand Ukraine is absolutely fighting for it's very survival and needs the population available as required to call up for manpower. This is a very attrition heavy conflict.

But also, I appreciate that there are many that just don't want to go to war. Even if they're patriotic or anti Russian, they may certainly have their complety justifiable reasons.

Fuck Putin and his supporters. Fuck them all.

  • The NHS here is always sending out press releases to the population to remind those that are vulnerable to get their seasonal vaccines (inclusive of flue, and COVID).

There is information out there about new flu mutations and flu shots, but with those applicable going for yearly vaccinations it really is irrelevant.

So, to go back to my original point, which people seem so adamant on willfully misreading so that they can have something to be outraged about, it's not news worthy on the scale these articles want to suggest that they are. There are countless things that change or develop that various different subsections of society need to know about.

  • But we do though. And we are informed. Just like there are news releases when there's a new flu strain, or vaccine or anything.

What I said was specifically 'at this level'. It doesn't need to hit the top headlines for the day.

  • I'm of the opinion that COVID is no longer news worthy beyond the minority it impacts. No different to the flu or various other low risk (to the vast majority) common community transmitted illnesses. It just is now. We don't get news articles written and publicised at this level for a new flu variant or vaccine, so I don't see the point for COVID.

Edit: some good discussion in the responses to this. But also some utterly dog shit ad hominem and trying to put words in my mouth. If only they bothered to actually read what I wrote.

  • At least for Android you can turn off push notifications. Long press the notification in question on the top pull down menu and pick your options.

Applicable for all apps, not just Reddit. Somhandy to silence irritating Uber Eats or Twitter crap.

  • Using crunch as an example of their progressiveness isn't really a good data point, Rockstar haven't released a title since RDR.

Talk is cheap when you know you're not going to be releasing a new title for ankther decade, but when it comes to the punch, that's when the proof will be in the pudding.

  • Seems like the only way Russia will actually pay for the damages if they think they'll be keeping it.

It would be quite the win if Ukraine manage to take the territory back even partially rebuilt. We know that Ukraine have a policy of avoiding costly difficult offensive operations into obvious hard points and cities (selecting to go around instead). I imagine, all going well, if they were to find themselves in a position to liberate the Azov coast then they would try and set the conditions for a Kherson style Russian 'nope' retreat to avoid an encirclement.

  • I wish I had the time to subscribe to it. It was a tough choice to unsub from it when I went through my last purge, because it's normally really, really interesting topics and high quality information.

But since it was more American focused I had to let it go.
