  • You don't need another example if you understand how many people are covered in that category.

Do you have any idea how many people have at least 5 minutes of audio on YouTube? (That's all you need for voice cloning), tens of millions? Hundreds of millions?... And how many of them have a Facebook, insta, tic Tok, or Twitter account? Virtually all of them.

If you wrote a script to do what I outlined, it would run FOREVER, because he users would be signing up and making videos faster than this script could ever hope to keep up.

  • Because they completely overhauled their party and transformed it from the inside. No way in hell Trump ever could have gotten elected as a third party candidate. But now he owns the entire party.

Just because they are evil morons doesn't mean we can't appreciate he there magnitude of the transformation.

  • There was nothing reasonable about what they did. They halted the counting, and then said, "oh we don't have time to finish the counting!"... Read the dissent for that opinion, you'll see that all the non-conservatives on the court were outraged.

  • Ralph Nader took enough votes from Gore to bring the election to a narrow enough race that the court could steal it.

If he'd dropped out near the end, when it was clear he wasn't going to get the 5 percent he needed, he still refused to put his support behind Gore, selling the lie that both parties are essentially the same.

  • THE TWO-PARTY SYSTEM IS NOT THE PROBLEM.

look, we became a global military and economic superpower under the two-party system.

We built the strongest middle class in history under the two-party system.

We ended segregation, and made huge progress in LGBTQ rights under the two-party system.

Solving our country's problems do not require more political parties. And the last time liberals tried this, Ralph Nader's spoiler party gave The election to George W. Bush, instead of Al Gore.

That's the Iraq War. That's the 3 trillion dollar giveaway to the ultra rich. That's blocking stem cell research. That's years of accelerated climate change. Years of no movement on healthcare.

    No. Fuck that.

If you want to change things, take a note from the Republicans: change comes from WITHIN your party.

If we'd picked Bernie instead of Hillary, the Democrats would have become the liberal party we need.

Unfortunately we don't have a Presidential primary this year, when we desperately need one. So our choice is Biden or ... Full-on fascism.

  • Forbes has never attempted to verify this list anyway. It's all self-reporting, and it's well established that Trump lied to get on the list.

The guy is such an embarrassment that he even pretended to be his own assistant, calling people to tell him how great he was.

And they recognized his voice. They knew it was this loser pretending to be his own assistant.

Think how sad that is, for a guy who legitimately could have just hired a PR person to do this.

  • I don't particularly care for this plot.

Q is omniscient, so he already knew that our history is rife with examples of good people and bad people, brilliant and ignorant... and he comes to judge a fairly utopian future society of a unified, post-capitalism, post-religion Earth? My dude, they're doing fine.

  • He's 100 percent correct that prosecutions should not be politically motivated or at the discretion of the president.

HOWEVER, what Garland has shown us is that his prosecutions are very heavily politically motivated, in that he opted not to go after Trump for fear of appearances. That was totally unacceptable.

Remember the Mueller report? Remember how it painstakingly detailed how Trump committed the crime of Obstruction of Justice in many ways, up to and including firing the Director of the FBI for the express purpose of halting the investigation into Trump's dealings with Russia?

Do you recall that the underlying investigation that Trump stopped was to find out if the CONFIRMED Russian interference in our election and the CONFIRMED Trump campaign communications with Russians rose to the level of Conspiracy?

Remember how Trump's DoJ wouldn't prosecute Trump because of nonbinding Nixonera DoJ memos saying you can't indict a sitting president?

REMEMBER HOW WE ALL THOUGHT THAT MEANT HE'D BE PROSECUTED THE DAY HE WAS NO LONGER PRESIDENT?!

Yeah, Garland CHOSE to ignore this... The greatest case of obstruction of justice of all time... And let the statute of limitations run out, so that now Trump can never be prosecuted for these crimes, which he committed in broad daylight, and which were caught on tape.

The problem with Garland isn't that he would not prosecute Trump at Biden's hypothetical request

The problem with Garland is that he is grossly incompetent for not prosecuting Trump on the bases of the OVERWHELMING evidence.

It's 100 percent Garland's fault that Trump, insurrectionist-inciting traitor, is walking free, and that the cases that were filed against him in federal court came so late that he may be a sitting president again before they conclude.

  • I'm sorry, but your assessment of how difficult that would be is WAAAAAY off.

Scammers are already doing stuff like this en masse with highly customized email scams.

The way this scam would work is to start with YouTubers, where grabbing the voice data is easy. Then you find their Facebook profile... Very easy, since people use the same usernames, or they go out of their way to link their profiles.

It's a pretty easy step to make friend requests with those people. And then a very easy leap to find their relatives real names and towns through their Facebook connections.

Now you take their connections and towns and do reverse phone number lookups.

ALL of this can be automated. Every step.

The voice cloning and gpt-powered phone calls can be automated now, too.

The only reason this isn't happening at scale is that scammers haven't had enough time to adapt yet.

  • Pointing out the problem puts it into play for public debate, and there isn't anything Republicans can say about the issue that doesn't make them look bad (because on this issue they are unquestionably the villains).

Getting into details about the solution, however, offers the Republicans a line of attack and a way to muddy the waters. ("They want to pack the court!").

Nothing is gained by having Biden get into the nitty-gritty, but something is lost.

  • Between voice cloning, gpt-4, and social media, the technology exists TODAY for scammers to call you at 4am with the voice and intimate knowledge of a loved-one, and tell you that they need you to send them money for an emergency.

You thought old people were easy to scam before? We're about to enter a golden age of manipulation.

  • He's doing one of the only things he can do: using his soapbox to draw attention to the issue.

The only real fix to this would be for Democrats to hold a majority in the house, a fillibuster-proof majority in the Senate (or remove the filibuster with a simple majority), and the presidency.

The last time this was possible was a brief 7-month period from 2009-2010. Prior to that... 1978.

  • The main reason that outsourcing is cheaper is that foreign countries don't have safety or labor standards.

All the progress that unions made suddenly evaporated when we allowed employers to hire foreign companies with lower safety and labor standards.

Now, maybe we should just accept that economic competition and economic competitiveness demand including those unprotected workforces. Fine. For third-world countries, even exploitative factory jobs might be preferable to alternatives.

If we accept that that's the case, is still unjust for business owners to reap the rewards of circumventing labor and safety standards while American workers lose jobs and have their wages depressed.

Every single cent of outsourcing profit should be taxed at 100 percent, and redistributed to American workers through government programs or tax cuts for workers.
