  • During the past couple of years my media consumption gradually decreased to none. I don’t remember when was the last time I turned on my TV, and haven’t watched a single thing on Plex. My only source of news currently is whatever is on Lemmy. As for youtube, the occasional tech video or a guide for something I’m trying to do.

  • Privacy @lemmy.ml

Ah yes, smart lights need Tor.

  • No idea. Could be encryption or to protect telecom companies interests, WiFi calling means bundles need to change.

    Most providers are government owned.

Edit: WhatsApp calling is still blocked in the GCC. Users there mostly use Snapchat as an alternative.

  • I remember that there was an identifier based on model number. FaceTime wasn't allowed in the Middle East for a while, there was a way to tell if the model will support it based on the last character after the / in the model number. Middle East models won't even have the app at all.

Propably they'll do the same for models sold in the EU.

There are already hardware variants of the same iPhone. I think the US gets an iPhone with all eSIM, and China has two physical SIM slots.

  • Tbh when I was thinking of the title that's what came to mind, sorry for being clickbaity haha. Immutable OS's have been on my radar for a while I just need to be a bit confident in using them before going live.

  • I haven’t tried gaming on linux, but I completely agree on the audio part. I have a laptop running PopOS, had a meeting and it just won’t change from the built-in mic, and some mic’s won’t even get recognized. Let’s just say meetings are now like my gaming, windows only.
