  • Does hamas have any credibility to lose begin with. I lost any trust I had in them when I discovered they use children as suicide bombers and shields. These were never anything more than terrorists masquerading as the persecuted. Israels not much batter, their one step away from fascists. But no one in any position to do anything is ever objective about these two. The media that's pro Palestine very clearly understated their actions and blames them as reactions for Israels persecution of them. The pro Israeli media just recounts hamas's horror and claims retaliation is the only deterrent to more aggression. In the background more people die. I'm so tired of this messy status quo that has been ongoing since before I was even born. F*ck this whole situation.

  • True. There's a long chain of cause and affect and at this point the original aggressor is basically mute. Both sides just keep ongoing hostilities because they refuse to (for financial or emotional or political reasons) to reach a compromise.

  • They probably never expected anyone in government to be so openly corrupt and incorrigible. At the time they wrote the declaration they probably viewed democracy like the roman Republic did and thought the people would categorically reject anyone willfully stealing their rights and freedoms for their own political or personal gain. Of course they couldn't foresee a political party so openly hypocritical that they would literally lie on mass to a public brainwashed by unchecked "news" publications that only regurgitate what they want to hear. Democracy is f*cked, blame the murdochs.

  • As we all should've known to begin with, you want less abortions you give more support to people having children. Banning abortions just pushes more kids into a society that doesn't care about them except when it's sometimes convenient politically. If you give mothers free childcare and remove the barriers to return to a normal life after childbirth you'll see a downturn in abortions as the alternatives are less miserable for most people. If you ban abortions you force women already in bad circumstances into worse ones.

  • Piracy is an accessibility and quality control problem, not a cost one. I pirate pretty much everything but still purchase physical releases so I can support content creators. Of course most Netflix originals never get physical releases so f*ck em.

  • Honestly the first season gets a pass from me cause Henry cavill did a spectacular job even with lacklustre writing. That second season was a step back in every way and after finding out that they'll continue the series after cavill leaves because the writers are sh*tying on the ip, I just haven't bothered watching the 3rd season. Nothing their to keep me invested anymore.

  • Honestly the quality is much worse now and it's noticeable. The worst thing is when it's really obviously because they've been calculating the best way to minimise costs on their best shows. Both top boy and sex education had their final seasons this year and both were rife with issues and numerous key actors just AWOL. Clearly Netflix has 3 season contracts and is playing hardball on the 4th season so people are just missing and everyone else just has to cover the slack leading to messy finales. I once thought nothing was worse than abrupt cancellations. Turns out dogsh*t endings are worse.

  • They didn't decide one wallet for payments, they decided to prevent anyone else from implementing something that could compete with their own offerrings. This is like Microsoft forcing you to install Windows on mac hardware and you praising them for removing the choice to have alternatives.

  • And I own the phone and I should be able to do what I want with it. Why does the company providing a product get more rights to that product than the individually physically owning it. Bs like that, like not supporting proper sideloading, is why I moved away from apple.

  • That's not helpful, these are developers... even if you think those lines are useless they can inform the code-path the devs need to trace through or help them understand why you're facing this issue.

  • Not legal pressure, government pressure. They kept getting asked to disclose which accounts had which ports associated with then and share all the info on them they kept (which for some payment methods they do briefly). So they decided to remove the feature rather than potentially violate their founding principle of privacy and anonymity. Kudos to them. Of course f*ck the CSAM assholes who made the government get involved in this and cost us this feature.

  • I disagree with this almost on principle. GitHub was a mistake. We don't need these large, bloated, isolated forges that are just going to be acquired and converted into social networks. Forgejo> is the future. Any new forge not even trying to support federation and independent hosting out of the box is dead in the water to me. You wanna build a github style accessible platform above forgejo go right ahead, the thing github did best was make all of this accessible.

  • I find that claim so dubious. Like they list running on the smallest VMs as a feature but give no specific requirements for hosting or running the service. This whole article reads like buzzword salad. I question if the creators even know what a git forge is.

  • Its not a fronted, you don't purely commit and manage code from github. It's a platform for hosting git repositories that supports integration with CI/CD tools. At its heart git is simple (enough), it's a version control software. Github is a Web platform that hosts projects version controlled with git and adds in features like pull requests and reviews or github actions for building/linting your project.

  • I thought you were being overly pedantic but my god, they keep repeating the point. They seem to have no idea what the difference between a platform hosting code repositories and an individual repository is or even what version control software is. What the bloody hell is this.
