  • People are misunderstanding this post. Ops goal is fun, not being the best fps player they could possibly be.

Ops argument is that a mouse keyboard setup, when the goal is "fun," in their eyes, is not better.

Then, they get jumped by gamer nerds who want to statisticly prove why op is wrong, but it's just missing the point.

  • Ugh, yes poor poor spotify, fuck that. Artists can't even make a living making music anymore thanks to spotify. Fuck off blaming artists for trying to get paid. Fuck this article. Oh no it only gets a third of the revenue?! Abhorrent, no it should get ALL the revenue, for doing what, having a server with music on it. Amazing. Fuck spotify.

  • So yeah, people have gotten hrtf surround sound stuff going with pulse audio, some searching around that should get you where you want.

Butt your last statement about games being "unplayable" in stereo is pretty silly, too, so I want to call that out. Don't be silly. They aren't "unplayable", you aren't "locked out," thats silly. 99% of people that have ever played that game played in stereo.

  • The older I get, the more I empathise with teenagers. It's far and away the most difficult era of your life.

You'll have incredible pressure to not ruin the entire rest of your life, you'll be constantly told to make decisions that will have a massive impact on your future (with little help or course correcting, I hope your three years of interest in that one subject lasts a lifetime).

your body starts mutating like a slow version of an American Werewolf in London, you're thrown into a school that often resembles something out of Lord of the Flies, and adults aren't there to support you, they just want you to be that 8 year old innocent child or a full blown adult with no inbetweens.

  • Yes, it's the people who are protesting the thing that are wrong, down with them. Jail is too good for them, I saw on the news that five people were a little bit late to work that day, so obviously, we can't stand them.

Maybe you should stomach some of this contempt for the oil companies.

  • It's just not a sustainable idea. To expand service, they need to launch even more satellites. Which degrade and fall down after a year. The only reason it could exist thus far is because the US taxpayer paid for it with subsidies like this.

America has problems with getting cable companies to actually lay cable after giving them money to do that, which is a separate thing. But at least if you get cable laid, it is in the ground providing service for hundreds of years instead of 1 year.

  • This game seems like it's flying under everyone's radar. I get why, but I'm so hyped for it.

I can't begin to explain how good those first two suikoden games are, and how in the sea of jrpgs we had at the time they managed to stand by themselves feeling completely unique.

  • Hey, look, I can instantly downvote you too even though downvotes mean nothing on this platform, and it just antagonises any hope of conversation! Woo. Here's where you say you didn't do that. Though probably all hope for a normal conversation went out the window when you started your part by just flatout calling me dumb, funny!

My entire point is that starlink is not more cost effective, it's paid for by American subsidies and investors. It's a money losing scheme. But laying infrastructure instead of burning the money up with infinite rockets full of infinite cell towers forever gives you a better return on the money spent as you can continue using that infrastructure for hundreds more years

  • I use it because it makes people mad and I think that's funny, obviously fibre is better. Good for digestion

Also yes copper is still more cost efficient than infinite rockets with infinite cell towers forever

  • It's not, neither is starlink. That's the whole point. You have two things, you can either launch infinite rockets forever or lay some infrastructure that we can benefit from forever.

Why America chooses not to lay infrastructure is beyond me. More so why Americans justify it so often. This shit is why America doesn't have trains.

  • If only someone like a government would subsidise the installation just like the subsidised starlink because that also isn't profitable. But a lot of money today is cheaper than an infinite amount of money from launching infinite rockets forever.

How do you think everything got built thus far? Only in America do you get this logic repeated. Everyone else just builds infrastructure. Yes, even in places with very remote peoples.

  • Ships don't need infinite rockets full of infinite cell towers launched forever.

Maybe when we have fusion power and don't have to waste the resources. We don't. We have to choose what we want to use. I say that launching infinite rockets with infinite cell towers forever is not worth being able to watch tiktok in the middle of the Atlantic.

There's always actual satellite internet for the needed communications.

Maybe we should just wait for the subsidies and the investor money that's actually paying for starlink to run out and see where things quite literally fall.
