  • Yes, but with "fixing" the structure, you have robbed it of colloquialism. Maybe it's just me projecting.

I lived among non-native speakers for the longest time, and shaped my English using my knowledge of other languages to bridge some gaps in communication. Now I'm back to a native environment and catch myself slipping up with my invented phrases.

The thing is, I can't find another combination of words to convey the exact sentiment so succintly, even though I'm not sure it's gramatically correct.

  • Man, English is so wacky. After reading that post twice the structure fell apart in my mind, and I'm a native speaker. Hats off to anyone who picked up the language along the way.

  • I've heard some actual numbers thrown about that are in the triple digits. Like if you cap the top 230 most wealthy people at a billion (or 10) US, we could build a shitton of lead free aquaducts or whatever your favorite 'metric of the commons' is.

  • It is just a reinforcement for us. He has probably never had more than the ever-elusive 'fleeting high'. He's in a skinner box, where he has already maxed out the ill effects of one of our more powerful tools (money). He has to go to ever further extents to quiet the demons that most of us had to cope with since adolescence.

To drive the point home, he'll never be able to make any new authentic connections in his life (if he ever could in the past). While it is a bit copium, and I am as frothy in the mouth about his antics as any well-meaning individual, I do find it one of the constant, if smallest, wins.

  • I think I might never use that phrase again!

I came in thinking someone would link some alternative porn to a lost soul, and it never even crossed my mind that they might be looking for work.

It felt attentive, and I just wanted to convene (so very poorly) that your company must be a pleasure.

  • Are malicious audio files a thing? Is it pervasive on soulseek? Would it be OS agnostic? I was under the impression, that the only way to get malware is disregarding security popups when installing shady stuff from cnet.

I don't know how to code, but have been my own admin for quite some time. Having malware in containers besides .exe files gives me the heebie-jeebies.

  • Exactomundo!

The only reason that last paragraph ain't outright ai garbage (besides my elegant use of 'everyperson', mind you) is that there is a semi-original though buried at the end of it. This paragraph is odacious, so point taken.

  • Or maybe even take a step back. Dead internet theory is real and we're living it, but just because the main subreddits and FB are ai schlock doesn't mean Lemmy is the only 'real' place.

I feel the hardest part is keeping my senses about me when I argue with hivemind mentality. You will probably get a feeling from my writing, that I too embraced the hive speak and mind. And this is where the bots get the everyperson. Bots speak in hivemind and meme format. I think this whole kerfuffle will do wonders for real online discussion, as low-effort discussions will be dismissed as white noise.
