  • The question is answered in the first three words. "I'm a Republican" = YTA.

The democrats are not to blame. They have been consistent throughout. They didn't want McCarthy back in January and they didn't want him three weeks ago. The GOP filed the motion to vacate, forcing the democrats to answer honestly: Nope, We Still Don't Want Him. At any time it would have taken about five republicans, fewer than half the number of republicans (and only republicans) that held the chamber hostage for three weeks, to cross the aisle and elect Hakeem Jeffries. If anyone thinks the D bear responsibility, they must admit the GOP bears tenfold.

  • It's folly to think that a democrat reaching across the aisle won't draw back a bloody stump for the effort. A better solution would be five or six republicans in purple districts to negotiate a compromise and vote for Jeffries. The democrats came to govern; It's not their job to save the GOP from the GOP.

  • Weaksauce sentencing. Four months should have been 1 year and a day, which would have put him over the limit for owning firearms in this state. Also, how nice that he gets to spend the holidays at home and doesn't have to surrender until Jan 29th.

  • People did not vote for Joe Biden/Kamala Harris because they like them, they voted against Trump…

This is true but really I would have voted against anyone the GOP would have offered. Fuck that corrupt party and the vast majority of the people in it. That said, I look forward to voting for Biden/Harris in 2024. He has done a lot that he gets zero credit for and I enjoy having an adult at the helm.

  • Originally there was an X. Now I have to wait a few seconds before I can click the X. This pause gives me time to think if I really need to watch this video, which more and more often is turning into a "not really".

  • If we shop at chain grocery stores we're self-checking (and destroying local businesses). If we buy from Amazon we're supporting billionaires and destroying local businesses. If we shop at mom&pop stores we're paying too much for less in an age of inflation. Good luck getting everything you need from side-of-the-road vegetable stands (who skirt tax and have no liability). We can't win.

  • I don't have to guess your position based on your language but I do want you to understand that some of us like the walled garden. There's a lot of shit out there that I don't have to deal with and don't want to have to.

  • This public shaming bullshit reminds me of Epic's Fortnite debacle and it's not a good look, especially from Samsung who usually mocks Apple on Monday and is copying them by Friday (see "no CD drives in laptops" or "no headphone jack" or "no removable batteries in the phone"). I know they're completely different issues but whining is whining.

  • I don't think the next time will take 15 rounds of voting, but there's going to be a long while before the first vote. I also think that neither Scalise or Jordan (who is my guess) can rely on any votes from the democrats. It would be fun watching the GOP implode further if the stakes weren't so high.
