Facebook/Insta/Whatsapp are important. Imagine if Gmail didn’t allow you to use other email clients, you had to use a google made app or the web interface. Would that be a write-off as “not important”?

In my experience service industry workers tip the best, so in a city where they are more often flush they probably tip even better.

Probably not directly, but I think tipping fatigue is definitely affecting things. If you’ve been prompted 10 times already to tip at places you usually wouldn’t tip and then are in a sit down restaurant, you may very well feel inclined to tip less.

Docker is not simple or intuitive for someone who is not already a sysadmin.

This is something that I hope fediverse developers and OSS developers start focusing on: making installation and self-hosting much simpler. Currently trying to set up self-hosted anything is a gigantic pain in the ass if you’re not already an experienced sysadmin.
