At the risk of coming across as argumentative - I can’t reconcile the idea that every group except boys benefit from positive role models that help young people see their potential.
I think this is a good point that there should needs to be more positive male roles models. However, I think the article shows that we really need positive role models that are define beyond masculine and feminine traits. I think the reason that there is such difficulty is defining either of these terms was that they were defined as opposites of each other. So there is difficulty in getting valid definitions since all people have combinations of both of these traits together regardless of gender. We really should focus on universal value sets that are valid regardless of gender. I think this article could have better identified that there shouldn't be any gendered values such as these
The restoration of this former reservoir is going to be an epic task of conservation with very interesting results. I'm sure extensive measurement and tracking will make this not only a useful scientific experiment but hopefully a prototype for future dam removals.
It would be so cool to view it live in action over time
If people take wanted to stop human trafficking they would legalize and regulate sex work. They do this because it plays into the hero complex which this shows with the military language and fighting the devil.
I think the growing change in opinion is likely based on and more stories and information about late stage abortions out there. I knew I didn't think about them as much before Roe. However, it's pretty obvious that the viability compromise is the real middle position with more people favoring no restrictions each day
This is an interesting article showing about across the political divide people feel about masculinity. Interesting to see that both feel like a new definition it's needed with positive role models. The difference is which direction to go.
If you're looking at Michigan I would also consider Minnesota. They have voted blue for the most presidential in a row and this last session with democratic majority has made huge gains. Michigan and Minnesota are showing what Midwestern values really mean.
The Twin Cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul are quite large together so you can get most amenities including one of every major sport league. Housing is no longer cheap within the cities because people from out of state are coming back to buy them. But there's tons of jobs and fortune 500 companies headquartered here.
Greater Minnesota has lots of smaller cities as well. Rochester, Brainard or Duluth all got their charms. Duluth has been listed as best city in the nation for it's cheaper coat of living with good job opportunities. Duluth gets real bad winters so get prepared for it. But it's better to be too cold than too hot
I always really enjoyed working from the lab instead of my desk when I had to work in an office. It started since I had to reference things in there but I just enjoyed it. I didn't have a nicer chair but I felt more comfortable there. I don't know if you have something like that but I loved it.
I think everyone is getting pretty sick of tipping. Workers hate the uneven wages and being beholden to customers. Customers hate the escalation in tipping amount, social anxiety and hidden prices. I wish businesses would just abolish the practice but that isn't happening

I would be interested in seeing how this plays out. I never really understood the opposition to amendment like this especially by women. It is kind of a strange part of US history where women were convincing other women to vote on an amendment that enshrines women equal rights. Just an odd part of US history
You do have a good point. We shouldn't give credit to almost and maybes the same credit as actual content. Regardless of what happened afterwards but it's still interesting to see what could have been
Well from what I can tell as normal person with limited legal knowledge the previous ruling on student loans said the education department couldn't cancel debt just restructure it. This seems like a restructure to me. I am happy with this new restructure. It seems fair, more sustainable as a long term fix and does change the repayment based on current income instead of income at time of loan. All good things and I am happy to apply.
I never really saw the Frodo and Sam read as homosexual but that article was convincing. I always thought of them as being part of a loving friendship the kind that only exists when two friends go to war. The kind of friendship that can could only be forged when two people who lived in the same place had to go to hell and back together. However, I can see the romantic and sexual elements of a friendship within that context. What I never enjoyed was the dismissing of that kind of friendship as "gay" in the derogatory and dismissive manner. But that is the great part about art is that it is open to interpretation based on people life events and their context.
That is what made the acting choice so brilliant. Every interaction had this tension, charm and plausible deniability in tone. Deciding to play it similar to Gay Men trolling for other men from the 50s made this possible. It was all undertone and body language
