  • No. I suggest you re-read what I said.

I am literally saying the opposite of that when I say "I'm not in the all or nothing camp."

Edit: You got 8 upvotes for being wrong, lol. People are really upset when rhetoric goes against the status-quo.

  • I just said Indiana was fine.

California is the most expensive state to live in. People don't need to live there and would be using capital more efficiently elsewhere.

I'm not in the camp of "all or nothing." I think magnitude matters and we can all be doing more to reduce the disparity in wealth besides "making more money."

  • Might want to see how people live in Burundi before you call it a lie.

And keep in mind, you're only subjected to this conditions so people richer than you can be even richer at your expense. (Long hours, low wages, high rent)

This is what I mean by passing a bunch of money around at the top. It doesn't even matter if you make more money because it's just going to end up in the hands of landlords and investors. All of does is drive up inflation, making it so the truly poor people never benefit from our excess.

  • Yes, it absolutely does. But I think it's still worth it to have a downvote system.

I'm glad we can even see the exact ratio, too. The more transparency, the better.

At the same time, it would be cool if users could just sort by means other than votes. If you'd like, it'd be nice if you could hide the votes altogether so you don't see them. I wouldn't do this, but I support having the option to for those who would.

  • So... people should disagree with each other just to disagree?

If you're talking about biased mods, then I completely agree. But as far as the community, of course people are going to agree with what's popular and disagree with what isn't.

That's what makes things popular and unpopular.

  • I find the quality of content to be way higher. People aren't desperately trying to stand out or fit in with a crowd.

You're right about the mods, though. All it takes is a large number of reports and they will usually come up with a reason to reprimand you, even if you aren't breaking any rules.

This, of course, has been and will continue to be abused to drown out people with dissenting opinions.
