  • I mean it literally is just information flow - no? Doesn't mean it can't be harmful or dangerous but thats what it is and you equating to actions like gambling just show how's actually ignorant you are being here. Have a good day and don't reply to me thanks.

  • How do you think you're making money with your work? Did your knowledge appear from a vacuum? Ethically speaking nothing is "original creation of your own merit only" - everything we make is transformative by nature.

Either way, the talks are moot as we'll never agree on what is transformative enough to be harmful to our society unless its a direct 1:1 copy with direct goal to displace the original. But thats clearly not the case with LLMs.

  • To give China credit the solar push was very capitalistic and very well executed. There are so many solar salesmen that will bother you to no end with one offering better deals than another. They come install everything and set up for you and guarantee returns in like 5 years plus mountains of other bonuses (obviously based on location etc.). The environment kinda make you feel stupid for not taking the deal too so you're really pressured which imo is a win. It's basically a free market under a dictatorship for a product in high natural demand.

Though I can't comment on industrial solar panel fields but the consumer part is very well executed and the rest of Asia is like 10 years behind.

  • Except that breaking copyright is not stealing and never was. Hard to believe that you'd ever see Copyright advocates on foss and decentralized networks like Lemmy - its like people had their minds hijacked because "big tech is bad".

  • Could have just stopped the YouTube channel and done something else. I know this is a stupid comment but it makes you wonder whether a bit of therapy or support in that direction would have been a bit more accessible her life could have been saved.

  • Nope I'm literally a data programmer working in this field. Any sufficiently transformed data even coming from hard copyright is transformative work and currently LLMs meet this criteria and will continue to do so. Wanna bet?

  • Dude just read the article. Torrenting IS illegal even by Meta here. What's up with people being willingly illiterate here?

The entire thing judge saying is that you can't sue for AI training but come back with a different lawsuit hinting at piracy which was just set as precedent in another lawsuit last week.
