Me too. Stupid sexy flanders.

Maybe my gas is more expensive than other parts of the Midwest. But my old gas water heater just died about 6 weeks ago. I swapped in a 55 gallon hybrid / electric heat pump model. I did the re-wire and install myself (which I acknowledge not everyone is comfortable doing).

My most recent gas and electric bills were compelling. I've been using my gas furnace already, and my gas bill is the lowest it's ever been since I bought this house 5 years ago (including summer, non-heating months). And my electric bill increase was negligible.

Sure, my old unit was not running as efficiently as it could bave. And newer gas models probably have improved efficiency. But I can't deny the savings in my bills. Between the tax rebate and the savings, I'll make back my extra investment and then some before this thing dies.

To each their own. I've been daily driving slackware since 99 or so, and it just feels like the right way to computer. But I know it's not for everyone.

I have a distrohop partition now and am seeing what's out there. I click on these types of posts for ideas. Debian isn't for me, but arch is interesting. I can at least see what all the cool kids are into.

Yes. For context, she's 4 and very skittish. I have a burley trailer for my bike I got in the hopes that we could ride together. I only successfully got her in it once for a gentle ride around the park. She screamed in terror the entire time. She does, however, love taking public trans.

My daughter would absolutely not ride in that.

Yep. When you have an 800mb HD and 16mb of EDO RAM, you only load what you need. The boot speed was unreal at the time compared to windows.

Slackware. Read the official installation guide and see what you think. YOU are the package and dependency manager, but there are several helpful tools. Nothing goes on or off the machine without your direct intervention.

You will probably find the open source nouveau (nvidia) driver lacking for gaming on any distro. The proprietary drivers help. But if you're passionate about foss then you may want to trade the 3070 for an amd gpu. I swapped me 3060 ti for a 7800xt recently and have been very happy.

I've only used ardour as my daw so i can't compare, but it's pretty rad. I donate to the project to support the devs.
