I got a book that was recommended on Lemmy! It's called Blindsight by Peter Watts and I mentioned the book to family and they got it :) Original post: https://lemmy.world/post/22134494
Great news I suppose. He does need to work on his PR if he wants to keep paying users on the app.
There's users from Sync for Reddit who understand this is how he works - months of silence and then suddenly an update.
I'm not saying it's unacceptable, but the lack of consistency and transparency is not for everyone so I understand when people flock to other apps thinking Sync is abandoned.
It essentially creates a caste system where equal exchange can’t happen.
If you experience Nitro members being seen as more important than others, you're in the wrong Discord communities.
I've never seen someone being glorified because they are a Nitro user, and although I've seen some member pretending to be superior because they have Nitro, they were quickly to be ridiculed and put back in their place for trying to gloat about paying for it.
Friendly reminder you can cancel your trial version / free month if you have activated one recently, and you'll keep the perks until your trial runs out.
Glad they are going for this, although it seems a bit weird that they aren't going for bigger players that have similar or worse tactics.
One looks like gambling but is actually a fun roguelite card game, the other one looks like fun but is actually a gambling game. Guess which one is rated 18+?
She's a fucking hero for allowing the trial to go public. In solidarity with other women who are not recognized as victims of sexual crimes. "Hope my case ensures no one will ever have to go through this again", and "it’s not for us to have shame - it’s for them”.
24% said somewhat acceptable. 17% completely acceptable.
This is different than worshipping. Just because someone points out an ugly truth about the bubble we can be in here, doesn't mean you have to call them a bootlicker.
Edit: they edited out 'bootlicker' to ask a rhetorical question, still missing the point that the meme levels of worship found on Lemmy is fringe compared to the rest of the country, let alone the world.
(context: in my language a "friend's price" is a saying for a good or cheap deal)
It's funny to see the look on my friends faces when I say "a friend's price, right?" and then offer them more than what it would normally cost. Usually it saves you a bunch of time or effort anyway (depending on the job), so it's a fun and nice way to reward them for their efforts.
They are saying the litigation is to maintain value and exclusivity, and that they are able to push out high quality titles without aggressive monetization because of that.
I think you're in the right neighbourhood with that opinion! Remember folks: upvote if you think it's unpopular.
Also, they do have games on sale from time to time, but it's never more than 33% if you're lucky, and only a few select titles. You're better off buying second hand. No money to Nintendo and cheaper for you.
