  • Why not? Most people only meaningfully engage with temperature scales when checking weather forecasts. It's all pretty subjective.

If course there's a need for Celsius or Kelvin in scientific applications, but that's not for the overwhelming majority of people.

  • Isn't basing a temperature scale on the freezing and boiling points of water a bit arbitrary in and of itself?

The reason they are arbitrary numbers in Fahrenheit is because they weren't considerations when the scale was made.

  • To be clear, nobody is saying that circumcision is always a human rights violation. Only when it is done to a child who cannot consent. If an adult were to choose to get circumcised then that would be his right.

you cant take away peoples religious beliefs if they arent being enforced on people who arent in that belief.

This is exactly the problem. Children are typically circumcised shortly after birth. They are not part of any belief and cannot even speak, let alone consent to something as serious and irreversible as a circumcision. It is being forced on them.

People are allowed to have and practice their religion. They should not be allowed to force their beliefs on others, even their own kids.

If course this all ignores the fact that many circumcisions (in the US at least) are not performed for explicitly religious reasons.

  • On the one hand valve having a monopoly is bad for the industry and it's consumers.

On the other hand nobody seems to be trying to provide a truly competitive service without also being far more anti-consumer than valve from the get go.

  • It's probably just the code without any assets (textures, 3d models, etc.). Code really doesn't take much space. You'd have a hard time actually building it to something playable as is, but this is still useful to modders.

  • Yes, that's the point. You don't need it to run to fill a tire: just crank it over a few times with the starter then replace the spark plug and turn the fuel back on.

If you wanted to run the engine while once cylinder is connected to a tire then you'd very quickly overinflate it. Also you'd be running the engine without a cylinder (no spark plug) which is probably always a bad idea and in many cases straight up impossible.

  • You'd fill a tire with pretty low pressure, dirty, mostly co2, I'd assume. It probably wouldn't be drivable and even if it was the small amount of oil and fuel residue would likely damage the inside of the tire after a while.

There are some cool gadgets that you screw into a spark plug socket in the engine and crank it over with the starter to inflate a tire. You'd want to unplug the fuel injector(s) or you'd be turning the tire into a bomb.
