  • Greedy rent-seeking garbage humans would make breathing a subscription if they could. And the sad and scary part is that for some reason there are people ready and willing to pay for the Premium Oxygen Subscription Plus with unlimited breaths per day and the Gold Blinking Packaage added for free for the first month ($99.95 after that)...

  • Cacti/succulents and wine (the fermented grape juice one, not the linux one). There are cactus and succulent communities in Lemmy, but they're not very active, and wine obes are completely dead...

  • I don't even do NG+ in these huge games, but now I'm going to skip this one on principle, even though I do like the series. Nope, not going to allow a company to treat me this way.

There will of course be a lot of people who bend over and take it (or even defend it), but I'd rather replay an older title than encourage this shit.

  • Or, it should be exactly as difficult/complicated to cancel as to sign in. Want a 15-step cancellation process involving phones, faxes and a blood offering? Gotta require all that to sign up too!

  • Samsung lost me as a customer when they removed the audio jack and SD card slot - I'm typing this on a S10+ that I've loved for years, but my next phone is going to be made by someone else, so they can shove the whole AI crap and yet another damn subscription so deep that it tickles their tonsils from the other side.

  • And that's why location is always off on all my devices, and gets turned on only when I want to search for something nearby or use navigation. Then it goes back off until the next time I need it.

  • Another revolution in battery tech? Man, is it Friday already? Look how time flies...

  • Oh I emphatically agree - I have a fully remote job and not even doubling my salary would make me consider switching to an office one. I was just clumsily trying to point out that a lot of corporate positions don't require all that creativity and collaboration bullshit that clueless executives love to throw around in videos like this one.

  • This will definitely push all accounting, data entry and other such office workers to the heights of creativity and inventiveness - just what they need! /s

  • Why do I have a feeling that "conspicuous and neutral" was added there only because pharma companies would otherwise misinterpret "clear" as "see-through"?

  • The internet is turning to shit really fast and is less fun than ever, episode #43364318

  • Wow, if Dan Murrell says that the movie is, and I quote "an unmitigated disaster", it means it's really REALLY awful - yet another disappointment from Marvel, and this one seems to be the biggest one yet. Shame... :(

  • What I did was first set all the options up and save them, and then go to "Cookies" in the search engine settings and copy the "Search URL of the currently saved preferences". Then, open Firefox settings -> Search -> Manage alternative search engines -> Add search engine and paste the thing into the "Search string URL" field, type in the name and press save. After that I just set it as default, and it works.

    Hope this helps!

  • Great list! Is there a way to easily add SearXNG as a default search engine in Firefox for Android? That's the only thing I'd like to make it even more convenient

EDIT: found it! Search url with current options is hidden at the bottom of the "cookies" section in the settings. Would be nice to have the suggestions API link too, but oh well, I'll take what I can get :)

  • Even Apple's damn screen polishing cloth is not cheap - why would anyone hope for Apple branded ANYTHING to ever be cheap?

  • I tried a couple, but I always go back to just using the web interface through Firefox. It has all the features I need, no extra ads, trackers or permissions, and is pretty comfortable to use. Then again, I don't moderate any communities and I'm not a very prolific poster, so my needs are pretty basic.

  • It's insane, isn't it? Why do so many companies act like employees are their indentured servants and not professionals who provide their services to them in exchange for money?

If anything, the boss should have said "Are you sure just 3 days are enough? How about you take the whole week off instead and come back fully refreshed?". I do hope the court throws the book at them - time off should be a goddamned sacred right if every employee.

  • Even better - I can just let it lapse then and still play using my preferred controller - thanks for letting me know!
