  • Maybe development in the sense that it is easier for programmers to put together the logic of the game, but game budgets are in the hundreds of millions now they have not gotten cheaper. You're forgetting that artists are needed to create all the high quality textures and objects needed to populate the gameworld. As gamers have called for more and more unrealistic standards of graphical fidelity, more and more budgets have gone to the legions of graphical artists necessary.

They're still underpaying them, but indies can get away with having maybe one guy as their whole art team. Check the credits for how many studios helped the art for the next AAA game you play.

  • The problem is that we have reached late stage capitalism where the economy does not work for 99% of Americans regardless of which party is in charge.

The real question you should be asking is "Why do the rich and powerful keep supporting Republicans if they consistently crash the economies that the rich and powerful participate in?" There's a pretty obvious answer that helps to explain what's happening right now.

  • The problem with your theory is that with the removal of the Fairness Doctrine, the creationist and the faith healer weren't deplatformed. Instead, they stopped needing to have a doctor or a paleontologist on the air to fact check them. That's what led to "my faith being as important as your reason," a bunch of far-right religious programming that no longer needed to host experts that would rightfully tear their ideas to shreds.

Also there wasn't any internet and broadcasting over the airwaves counted for most TV networks of the time.

  • Yeah, they'd be considered like a 2-3 or so on the Kinsey scale; mostly heterosexual but with some gay attraction. You know you can measure a spectrum right? It doesn't have to be a vague ball of nonsense.

  • It's not about similarity, the Kinsey scale just measures your level of attraction to people of the same or opposite sex.

This starts getting more into "what parts of the opposite sex are you attracted to, and how is the other person presenting themself." Femboys present femme, so a femboy liking other femboys might be attracted to their feminine characteristics. If that's the case, they're likely to score closer to strictly heterosexual than a femboy who is attracted to the masc characteristics of a bear. On the other hand, maybe the femboy just really likes the idea of getting railed by another femboy. Then, they might even be more strictly homosexual than the femboy who's attracted to bears, but refuses to be the receptive partner to them and always tops.

  • People like to make fun of this idea that "the right can't meme," but I'd agree with you and argue they're actually really fucking good at it.

I think it's a real shame that progressives basically ceded the tools of shock and profanity to people on the far right. Maybe it's because I was a huge fan of the Colbert Report growing up, but I feel like satire is a great way to deconstruct far right positions by showing their logical conclusions. The problem is that you can't really satirize a racist anymore; you'll get called a racist yourself and be canceled.

  • Not really true? I'm not entirely certain the Kinsey scale is advanced enough to quantify this, but I think liking slim femme twinks is closer to straight than liking big husky bears.

  • There are literally people in this thread claiming misandry cannot exist. People are pretending hating and abusing men is totally okay, and then getting surprised when some of those men start to resent them for it. To say nothing of the fact that the loneliness epidemic has been scientifically measured and is effecting both men AND women.

  • Knew a straight guy who got beaten almost to death because two fascist chuds thought he was gay. Only survived because one of his buddies at the gig he was working that night noticed he didn't make it back to the hotel after, could have easily just bled out overnight over nothing. When you decide to amplify hateful and violent ideology, it creates a hateful and violent world.

  • The real secret is that sexuality is a spectrum and not a binary. You can be a lil gay and mostly straight, you can be very gay and a lil straight, you can even sometimes hit right in the middle and be attracted to both men and women equally!

  • Reduction of consumption at this point will not actually work, we're already too far down the path of annihilation. We're either going to need to find a way to manage our planet's climate ourselves, or we'll need to find a way to adapt our cities and lives to be able to survive in the coming world. Both of those require technological solutions. So far, we have not found a good one yes, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

  • if there's one thing that keeps getting proven again and again, it's that business majors are generally quite dumb. They can't understand anything unless you can put it in terms of money, so this really is the first time they're realizing there's a problem.

  • It's a real problem, but I hate filler words. "Um uh hmm" just immediately makes me want to cover my ears and tune out the conversation. It's at a level where I've seriously considered vocal therapy to make certain I never do them anymore, but that doesn't really solve the issue since nearly everyone ends up using them. I just have to try and let go of the obsession, but it's so hard.
